Fish shaped like an angel/tang/butterfly, but not?

Can't get a tang given my tank size. I've had terrible luck with dwarf angels lately (tried heraldi, Potters, and flameback - all nippers). Tank too small for butterflies. Is there anything else that has the shape of these fish - taller, rounder, etc.?

I've got some long skinny fish (wrasse, hogfish, firefish, midas blenny). I do also have a flame hawk, which is pretty close.

Basically, is there a fish out there that looks like an angel, but isn't?

Didn't you have a regal angel?

I'm not sure.... Atlantic Longnose Butterflies stay kinda small. I think one could do good in your tank.

I did have a regal - he jumped out the back of my tank. He somehow found the tiny space between my mesh cover. Saddest day in reefing for me. I've added a lot of coral since then, plus the regal I had came from an established tank. I wouldn't try another regal unless I could find another one that was established and eating.

I had an ATO failure while on vacation. Tank is at my office, so it took a while for my buddy to come remedy the situation. When I got back regal was gone and my mesh top was askew. He must have freaked out. So so bummed when I realized he was gone.

Have you considered some of the roaps(sp) butterflies? Declevis, burgess, tinkeri, and mitratus all are reef safe and none get bigger than 4 or 5 inches. They re a little pricey though.

Those are awesome. And expensive! Looks like they might be trouble for corals too. Gorgeous fish, though. I love butterflyfish. The raccoon butterfly is one of my favorites. I would love to have one someday.

ThRoewer, want to sell me one of yours? Not too far a drive for a regal....

Right now I don't plan on parting with any of mine, but if you want I could keep my eyes open and let you know what AC has. They get them in quite regularly. If you want they could even get a Red Sea regal, though those are pricy and IMO overhyped.

Last Saturday they had a very nice large (~6") Sumatra yellow belly and some juvenile Philippine regals (~1.5" to ~2.0"). I was close to getting the larger of them but it was still too small to pair it with my 3" Philippine regal, plus a 40B may really pushing it with a pair.
