Fishcraze's SPS tank!!!

Def one of the better SPS tanks out there! I bought 6 frags from him about 6 months ago or so, all doing quite well.

On another note, I GOTTA GET ONE OF THOSE DIGITAL SLRs! Holy freggin awesome shots!!!!

Awesome tank!!!! I love that red cap. and everything else.

Naka, your pics always look so good. I'm looking forward to this being TOTM.

Also, naka, When is your tank going to be TOTM?

The 4th pic is actually Pavona Maldivensis.

incredible tank you got going fishcraze!! how long do you run your lights and do you do routine water changes?

Put me in line for that green Austera. That one is my favorite now in your tank. ;) I cant believe how thick the branches were. That's when your tank is fully matured. My other favorite was the pink one in the 4th pic someone mentioned.

Oh one other thing.. I would try to redo your flow so the corals can start growing up. I want to see those stags hit the water surface.

Sure i'll try to frag that Austera next time i mess w/ the tank. The pink pavonia (according to Naka :)) grows slower, will see when i can make frag of it.

About the flow, that is my real challange now. As you can see, my red stag and blue slimer couldn't grow straight up due to the strong flow from the Tunze. But there are too much sps in the tank now that I'm scared to remove those powerful Tunze. maybe I'll look into the Tunze wave boxes since I was impressed w/ the flow from these boxes when visiting Chingchai's tank last time.

dukes707 & tfp:

Lighting spec: 3 250w MH phoenix 14K, 1 250 10k ushio, 1 250w10k reefflux, 2 6ft VHOs, 2 T5 ATI 60" blueplus bulbs.

I used to have the 3 phoenix on for 8hrs and 10K on for 4hr. Recently I have increased the lighting period: 14K bulb on for 9hrs, 10k bulbs on for 7hrs, VHO on for 5hrs, and T5 on for 9 hrs.

I try to do WC weekly or at least bi-weekly.

Thanks Kyle! I told Quoc that was Pavona Maldivensis, but he wouldn't listen :)

I thought it's a cyphastrea since it has the bumps and mouth structure somewhat similar to the blood red cyphastrea or the purple blue astreaopora on http://www.reeffarmers.com/ :) (in the Limited edition section)

But now look at them closer, they seem to be different.

I always thought all pavona look like this: http://www.reefermadness.us/RMMH_O2manyfish_Pavona.htm

which has completetly different form than mine..

However after look at these links:
http://www2.aims.gov.au/coralsearch/html/201-300/Species pages/293.htm
http://whelk.aims.gov.au/coralsearch/html/101-200/Species pages/129.htm

I can see the diff b/t cyphastrea and pavona maldivensis now.. one is branching and one is more columnar or plating. In fact I think the "blood red cyphastrea" on reeffarmers.com is also a pavona now?:)

Glad to hear the frags are doing well:)

yeah, you need to get the macro len as James's if you are in to macro shots!

I'm glad that Naka came by yesterday. I have tried to have him to come over to check out my tank and take some pics in the past. But it was hard to arrange such meet up due to our busy weekend schedule and quite a drive b/t us. Then suddently I got a call from Invincible yesterday around noon (when I was ready to get lunch) that Naka was at his house (pretty close to mine) and they would stop by in 5 - 10 mins!:) I was a little hungry but thought it's worth it to put off my lunch plan to meet these guys first. And it was worth it :D

Nice aquarium.

I have an oversize kalkwasser reactor (6" dia and 28" tall) and a good size Ca rxtr w/ dual chamber.
I have to refill 3 tablespoon (the big one) of ESV kalk to the kalk rxtr weekly.
I also refill my Calc rxtr chamber ~every two months. The media would melt ~3" or so about 2-3 months and I like to keep my rxtr full as frequent as I can.

5th picture down. Im a sucker for the lighter pastel ones......looks like white or very light blue with blue/purple polyps with pink highlights.....can I get some info on this one, or was this already discussed and I missed it?

That's my latest rare collection:) Got it from RM when I visited their store several months ago. They called it the blue polyps nasuta. I have always been awed by the frag pics they posted on their website in the past but always missed out on the deals since they usually sold quickly and i was also a little skeptical if the blue polyps were that nice blue (considering the price tag on these frags!). But I was totally sucked to it when i saw it in person - it does have the deep blue polyps and neon green body as in the pics! so i couldn't resist the $120 tab for the 1.5" frag.. and broght it back w/ me on the plane:)
Good thing is it seems to grow quite good and its neon green has turned even better than when I first got it! Good buy IMO:D

do you feed your corals ?
<a href=showthread.php?s=&postid=10033671#post10033671 target=_blank>Originally posted</a> by fishcraze2002
Feeding: used to feed very little due to a special algea problem i got from the bali cultures stuffs back then.. but since i added 2 naso tangs, they cleaned those bastard algea off. So I started to increas feeding heavily in the past 3 or 4 months.. 1 cube of mysis, 2 cubes of brineshrimp, some flakes, and varying/ alternate amounts of cyclopeeze, oyster eggs, golden pearl and phytoplankton every day. I noticed great growth and more solid color w/ increased feeding.

Your tank is certainly TOTM material! Amazing tank! I wish I lived near Houston so that I could see the tank in person!

I have a couple of questions. Sorry to get a little off-topic.

1. How deep is your sand bed?

2. What type of maintenance do you do to you sand (i.e. siphon, stir, change, etc)?

3. What inverts do you have to stir and eat detritus in your sand bed?

Thanks!

BTW, Naka's camera skills are crazy!
