Flow Rate, GPH and Pumps in a Cadlight

Hello,

I am in the process of setting up a Cadlights 22G. To conserve space in the over flow and add more directional flow, I was considering adding a return outlet.

Would add an additional outlet and attach both with rotating flow deflectors.

Here is my overall question. The current pump is rated at 300 GPH. I was considering plumbing both returns to this pump, or plumbing them individually to (2) smaller pumps rated at 160 GPH to reduce pump space (Mini-Jet 606's).

So, are (2) 160 GPH pumps = to (1) 300 GPH pump. Will I be significantly reducing the water turnover in the tank?

The other alternative would be to add a powerhead to tank itself, but was going to attempt the tank bare of equipment.

with the pressure built up 2 rotate the deflectors, i dont belive that the two pumps would move nearly as much water as the single 300gph. BUT imo that is not even close to enough flow for any type of reef. What kinds of things r you planning on keeping in this tank?

For starters...coralline. Heh.

After that nothing much beyond some mushrooms and polyps and basic corals.

I will perhaps be better off keeping the one return and adding one micro-jet in the overflow, or in the tank.

Has anyone repositioned the return in the Cad Lights, seems like it would be better off moved up and to the side.
