Food?

I have been feeding mysis and nori for as long as I can remember. No idea why just always have. whats everyone else using and why. I am debating on trying some different foods but need a reason all my fish have been healthy and happy.

Spectrum Pellets reign supreme on my finned friends menu.

Vlamingi gets everything but nori and krill weigh heavily on it's feeding schedule.

is there any place to get small amounts of spectrum out our way to see if my fish will eat pellets?

+1 to Gary... most (if not all) fish will accept the Spectrum Pellets. Some people I know feed nothing but the pellets. Good stuff!

awww.... you should have asked earlier today!

sometimes MO has the small jars of small Spectrum pellets in stock.

I feed Vlamingi the large (or jumbo) size regular (not Thera) Spectrum pellet. Ditto with Junior.

Next time work brings you out my way, stop in and grab some Jeff.

Thanks for the offer man but I am stuck on the west side this week and to be honest I could prob buy a months worth for the amount of $$ I would spend in gas to get out there haha

Where about are you Jeff? I'm in Gates-Chili and have the 1mm variety and could certainly give you a spoonful in a plastic bag to try.

I should be home for the rest of the day today unless I decide to head up to CF.

Let me know...

I am out in the brockport area. I am stuck in for the night maybe I could stop by tomorrow if thats possible

Sure could...I'll be around tomorrow as well. I'm not looking to offer up Gary's food, but if you're in Brockport I'm sure he's closer to where you are than I currently am (I'm not far, but depending upon where you live I may be out of your way on the way home tomorrow). The only difference is Gary has Spectrum Pellets for prehistoric size fish, where I have it for more modern day organisms.

I tried the pellets and they love it. works in the autofeeder which makes me feel better about being gone for the weekend!

In my limited experience, I have yet to meet a fish (including fussy Anthias), who won't eat New Life Spectrum pellets.

I actually just saw Roggers frozen food when looking through Drs. Foster & Smith catalog yesterday. Haven't looked into it at all though...

I use mysis shrimp of the mini size and medium size frozen. For fish and some larger polyp corals the med. small chalices seem to be able to take the minis easier.I also, use
cyclopeeze with a shotgun approach occasionaly.

Nori ,I like the brown and red but use the brown more so ,I think for the tang and some Iodide addition .(I dont like to add chemicals I dont want to test for or think they lack accuracy.)
Black worms are supposedly helpful and may encourage breeding ,so I read ,I dont really know but use them occasionaly.

I like to include something with a blood content I think it may have some certain beneficial plus.

Mmmmm ,selcon I am a firm believer in,its sorta known as the little brother of what commercial breeders use (selco )whitch is definately know for its benefits in breeding but very expensive. So the selcon is imo the next best thing.

I cant think of what else is in my freezer right now.

Rod's, PE Mysis and the corals love Oyster Eggs! The predators eat raw shrimp, silver sides and clams. I have to keep it mixed up to keep them happy.
