Forrest's Reef Tank Build

If you don't already have them, put in filter socks over your drain(s) into your sump. This will help clear things if the dust is from the sand/rocks.

All the sand and rock muck had settled before I salted, I'm seeing that RC tend to take a bit and I put in a bag and a half so it should be gone, however with that, can I put live rock in and get it going? Or will the salt cloudiness affect bacteria? It should in theory still be around 1.024.

Woohoo!!! Scored a bunch of larger LR for the small price at petco, 5 pieces for less then 50 and approx 35 pounds. And as such, so it begins. 4 pieces of shrimp in with the LR. Tank is still foggy, 77 degrees, 1.025 sg.

Also! Can a Rubbermaid bin hold ro water? Or will it leach?

Keep them running. The fog took about 5 days to clear in mine. Awesome deal from Petco btw! Can't wait to see your rock scape

Sadly it's no longer clear I was attempting to play with the rock work and it just stirred everything up again! Def need a filter sock. But here are my day one readings! EDIT: threw the HOB skimmer on the side or the tank to help get some stuff out, it's helping and it's been in for a few minutes.

Just went and got a filter sock from my dads shop, put it on the sump overflow pipe hopefully this helps to get rid of some of the excess precipitate

ur skimmer will skim out any bacteria you added to speed up cycling FYI. Just be patience and wait for it to clear up.

It's nice and clear now, turned the skimmer off, I added LR yesterday. I did however put a filter sock on the overflow pipe. Seems to have done its job.
