Fraggin carpet anemones...

Nathan4Wvu

Do you like Phil Collins?
I have been searching and I have seen some yes and no answers. Quick and simple can you frag a carpet anemone like you can a bubble tip?

Thanks!:uzi:

No and whichever site said yes should be deleted from your bookmarks or reported here so beginners know where not to go to find advice.

Well there was this one guy on here who had a really good success rate... No wait that was fragging dogs, my bad.

Yah and then the dogs cloned like BTAs. Wow, that guy causes a lot of trouble.

But seriously, if you're looking for one person to say it's possible and that they've done it, you're bound to find that person. Just keep in mind we've NEVER seen evidence of it actually occurring or with any success. Furthermore, carpet anemones don't reproduce by splitting or cloning, only the typical eggs/sperm way.

Sounds good guys! That's why I come here for advise. I had found a YouTube video but everyone knows not to listen to YouTube.

Oh you can frag carpet anemones with 100% success. It's getting them to LIVE afterwards that is the tricky part.

The best proof... if it was done with any level of success, you would see people doing it and you would see people selling clones. You have never seen a cloned carpet anemone for sale - ever - by anyone.

I'm gonna need you to give me permission to duplicate that image for my own personal amusement. I think this one needs to be memorialized. :)

Huh, I have to say that fragging carpet is becoming common in the Taiwan. Though the success rate is not as great as that on bubble tip, I would say yes fragging haddoni and gigantea is possible.

This is only one of the success cases. Hope goggle translate works.

although it looks like it may be going good, and the fact i cant read that..

start date was 4-17-12... its now july... IMO 3-4 months is not long enough to claim success to fragging a carpet....

and im still sticking with my original answer.... No.

And also IMO again... there isnt enough pictures of it either..

Beside that, none of those anemones are healed, even after 3-4 months. Healthy anemones can take a long time to die. Just keeping them alive doesn't say much. The fact that they still haven't healed says a lot. A BTA would have been ready to frag again by now.

There is an old thread around here from when one of our members tried to frag a Gig. Didn't end well if I remember right.

If you want another carpet anemone then buy one, but cutting one in half is not going to go well for you, I had a friend who tried and failed miserably
