Franky's macro shots

I tried picking an aperture (I think it was around f16) and increased the shutter speed a few times (i.e. I tried 30, 60, 125 at f16 in manual mode) from what the camera picked. All I got was lower exposure overall. Not sure I understand the concept...

Lol at f16 your shutter speed has to be slower not 125 that's way too fast. Shoot in manual mode so u can control both shutter speed and aperture. Look inside your viewfinder there's usually an exposure meter scale play with it until it's zero or centered. Too much to the left is over exposed and too much to the right will be under

Probably haven't had enough coffee yet this morning but I don't understand how this is any different than shooting aperture priority. I pick an aperture and, based on the metering the camera sees, it picks the shutter speed that gives me a zero or centered exposure. Is this not the same as shooting manual, picking an aperture and adjusting shutter speed to get a zero exposure?

No not the same shooting in that mode gives you the corresponding value for proper exposure that doesn't always work for your situation shoot full manual some shots need to be over exposed

Not a macro shot but thought I'd share a pretty cool FTS I took. I placed my camera on-top of my dining room table to stabilize it and I got a cool reflection off the surface of the table since it has a glass tabletop. Enjoy!

Nikon D7000 SLR camera was $1,800 with kit lens. Macro 105 mm lens was $998.00. Flashes were $400 I use two of them. And standard 2.8 portrait lens $1,499.00

Very cool pictures. Well beyond what I want to spend right now though. I'm looking at the Nikon 5300. It looks like a nice camera and I can get a decent macro lens and the camera for around 1400.

It can get expensive as with any hobby it quickly adds up. As for my chalices I got most from my local fish store in ct. Or from frag meets
