Got mine this afternoon too! Right in time because i was running out! LOL! Thanks Tunze!

Made 50g worth
Aerated 2 days
80 degrees

Salinity - 35 ppt (refractometer)
Alk - 9 (Tropic Marin [TM])
pH - 8.1-8.2 (TM)
Ca - 428 (TM)
Mg - 1380 (TM)
NO3 - <1 (TM)
PO4 - 0.06 (Hannah) -> Roger, is this right? I wonder if my RODI is due for membrane change. But my display checks in at 0.02 (with Phosban reactors though)

Numbers look good. I'd be interested in trying this salt if shipping costs are cheaper or my LFS stocks it.

Saw the post about the shipping rate being high. Please contact us directly and we will adjust the shipping charge. Our Tunze salt is actually shipping from Tunze in Texas and not South Carolina. Please contact us directly via phone if you see a higher than normal rate for shipping and you are on the western side of the country. We stock a lot of Tunze products but not the salt mix. Due to the weight we don't stock it. Salt typically ships next business day direct to customer.

Thank you,

Hey Roger,
Any update on getting Marine Depot to start carring the Excel salt mix. please let us know. I just talked to Kyra and was told that they don't when it will happen.

Time to do my regular water change last saturday which give a chance to use and test tunze salt a received.

pH- 8.04 using Neptune pH probe on an ACpro
salinity 1.025
temp 77F

Ca++ 455 ppm (Elos)
Mg++ 1300 ppm (Elos)
Alk 11dkH (Elos)
PO4 0.0 ppm (salifert)
NO3 0.0 ppm (salifert)

I mixed the Tunze salt this last weekend and it tested out very nice, simmilar to Xinumaster's result, what I also really like about it is the salt water was crystal clear without the yellow tint/stain that IO/RC salt had in their mix. I am going to use it for a water change this weekend and see. Thanks Tunze for being so cool

Sunset's colored up even more since I last spoke with you. I can see the orange base more and more now! :) Just need to deal with the AEFW and RB in my tank :(

Hey Lapsan, this is sounding promising. Shall I post a thread over on BAR to see who's interested?

I priced it out from PA, and shipping for just 6 bags was $74!! :eek2:

If anything, maybe you and I can split shipping costs? My parents are still in SF, so it's an easy pick up for me.

Unfortunately with the fuel prices as they are shipping costs a fortune, there is no way around this, a pallet is the most economical but it still would cost almost $500 to ship a pallet to CA. I think your best bet is to express your interest to Aquarium Concepts, we have been in contact with them about the salt and I think with a bit of persuasion he would take a pallet which is 120 bags and weighs about 2200lbs. Shipping those sample bags by UPS cost us between $12-$17 a bag depending on location just to give you an idea of what this would cost by UPS in less than a pallet quantity.

Thanks for the follow-up Roger. I have asked Ken a few times if he plans on carrying the salt. He does, but said he cannot do so right now *i'll withhold why he can't*
