Thanks! Yes.....there was die off at the base of that birdsnest and that was totally expected since flow to the bottom of the colony became restricted over time.Reefbum, First-off.... You are my idol! Your tank continues to inspire me. I noticed you removed your giant pink Birdsnest... In the time that you had it, did you ever experience it or any other birdsnest slowly dying from the base? At first, I thought that it may be asternias at work, now I'm starting to think that they are just there cleaning things up... Again, fantastic Job. The tank is absolutely beautiful..
Thanks. I added maybe 1 or 2 smaller pieces of rock during that time and I did add a few mini-colonies plus some frags. And yes things did start to take off after that point.nice work reefbum.
what happened between oct and dec 2007? did you add rock and start buying larger pieces?
seems like after that though you settled down?... and things really took off. amazing.
Ha! I always have to trim....it is a lot of workYou are SICK!!! It is time to trim some and send it my way!!!
What's rock? :spin2:Where did the rock go?![]()
Many thanks. The key is to get the placement rock solid so everything is stable. I have found that my corals do best when I keep my hands out of the tank and don't fiddle with placement. They like stability.wow you are doing SOMETHING right!
One thing I've always had trouble with is placing SPS so that they don't fall off or so the rocks don't shift here and there.... they always end up growing weird because their orientation will shift slightly once or twice a year. Yours look very natural... spectacular.

Amen to that. I have not put my hand in my tank for quite some time, in fact i have not done a water change in 14 months, stability is KEY
