Nope....I started with 400W 10k bulbs on HQI ballasts plus 8 39W full spectrum T5s and then switched to 250W 14k bulbs on HQI ballasts and mixed in some actinic T5s. For the past 10 months or so I have been running 400W Radiums on HQI ballasts and super actinic T5s.Originally posted by mylittlejade
Nice tank. Ary you still running the same light set up as when you started? Also great growth.
Yes....My old tank had 400W 20K Radiums on HQI ballasts and I always loved that combo. They have really helped me with my colors and really turbo-charged the growth. I actually feel fortunate to have the 400W HQI ballasts since PFO is now out of business and Sunlight Supply discontinued its 400W HQI ballast (I snagged the last 2 dual ballasts from Premium Aquatics).Originally posted by mylittlejade
I noticed a change with the pictures, thats why I asked. It looks really nice. I can't wait for my tank to look half as good as yours.
Thanks! I actually just added a Vortech MP40w to the back of the tank since all the growth was cutting back on the flow. I am also adding a frag tank to do some more serious pruningOriginally posted by Jay03GT
That is amazing! What do you have for flow? Just the 2 tunzes in the back? Are they pointed at each other?
Yes...it grows like a weed.Originally posted by qn5reef
wow, crazy looking Green Slimer.
Thanks....is this the one you are talking about?....not sure of the ID. That birdsnest is going to need its own tank soon!!!Originally posted by 29reef
Nice to see the new photo of the tank! What's the maricultured coral on the right in the sand. It seems to be a slow grower. Looks interesting. The pink BN on the right looks like a ten pounder!thanks for sharing.
Thanks! Perhaps there is something in the water!! Jason's tank at Greenwich Aquaria was definitely an inspiration. He really know his stuff.Originally posted by jackson6745
WOW this has to be one of my most favorite tanks. It looked great in the past but these last few months things are looking CRAZY! There is something you guys from CT do to your tanks that I just can't figure out. After seeing kedd's tank and Jason's from Grenwich Aquaria.....it's like you guys have your tanks on steriods..LOL
I haven't seen many T5 only tanks but I have to agree with you about the halides since they provide great punch for me.Originally posted by Emster
Very nice! Thanks for sharing that. This is why I always recommend using metal halides over T-5's. When I see a multiple T-5 only tanks growing like this is the day I will switch. I think your right on using a combo of both:thumbsup:
Thank you!!! Yes...I learned this lesson from my last tank. Less is better.Originally posted by 2farNorth
Very nice tank! And AWESOME growth!!
Well planned out initial rockwork, that's where alot of people (including myself) mess up, add too much rock to the display in the beginning, we never realize how much room the coral itself is going to take up!!
Well done!
