Garlic is gonna kill me

I just got Kent Garlic Extreme and I have to tell you I almost puked today. It's such a terrible smell to me. Has anyone had success using any of the odorless liquid capsules? How bad does Kyolic smell? Is there any reason that these less offensive products won't help my fish? Thanks for your thoughts and experiences.

why not just mince up fresh garlic into your food? works great for me, but then I have to have Italian food for dinner that night

That's certainly a thought but I really can't stand garlic. I'm worse than Dracula. But I want to take care of my finned friends.

I get a small jar of the pre minced garlic at the grocery store. Add a small spoon tip of it to my food occasionally.

Is it minced finely enough? Do you find that they eat it? I have a small Hippo that I want to make sure receives some garlic just in case. He's only about 2" and his mouth isn't very large.

I too just get a small amount of fresh garlic and throw it into the blender, mix a little saltwater from my tank. After blending it, I drain the liquid and use that for soaking the food.

This gives me enough to soak a ton of food. I didn't realize it was that strong, but I don't mind the smell. I store the liquid in a small closed container in the refridge, so not to stink up the refridge. HTH

I've got a bunch of Fairy Wrasses that are about 3" long and they eat it. Some of the pieces are a little to big for them to eat.

I've never used garlic before what exactly are the benifits? How much would i put in my 30gl display? System specs below V Maybe i can use chimmichuri suace lol

The main benefit from garlic that i know of is that it enhances the smell of the food and is appealing to fish. Helps with finicky eaters etc. The big one though, is that it supposedly helps prevent ich. You can use regular garlic, or there are many different elixers specifically made for the marine aquarium. search any marine supply store and you'll find it.

So Kyolic still has the benefits without the stench? Is that the general concensus?

I think the stench is what makes the fish love garlic so much. If you are one that believes garlic is a cure all then maybe Kyolic will have some benifit.

I added 2 drops of the Kents to some food a while ago. My basement smelled like the Soprano's house for a week afterwards!

LOL, if you aren't doing it already..don't start!!!
One whiff of the skimmer is all it took to make me realize it smells like the dumpster behind an Italian restaurant, which seems like a bad thing to me.
Next will they be feeding the fish Domino's? :)

If you hate the smell that bad, you could just go with New Life Spectrum Thera A pellets, has the allicin (good compound in garlic) built right in. No smell.
