Gem tang for $1100. To do or not to do...?

I've never tried the mirror thing. I can also section off part of the tank as well with egg crate.
As far as the money, yes I have the money, should I spend it on a fish, probably not, but I have a feeling this is a once in a lifetime opportunity for a gem tang at this price. Will it stress me out financially, not really. Would Suze Orman say its a wise investment....absolutely not. But that's why we are fish nerds/geeks/weirdos/nut jobs/insane/crazies/ludacris....etc
I'll still be able to pay my mortgage, bills, car....just can't eat for a month or so. Oh well:)

Ok, then it's settled lol. Your next post must be with a photo of your new Gem tang :):fish1:

the suspense is killing me. for the love of God man, just DO it!

She doesn't understand how people can be like that.

i work for a criminal defense attorney who also does some family law/divorce work. i have seen people fight over...are you sitting down?...tupperware!! thank God i don't have to deal with them. i do his criminal work. give me a murder defendant any day of the week over a divorcing couple!!

Lol. Nina. That is funny. Sooo petty.

Tomorrow is D-day= decision day.
Once I see him, I'll make my decision.

Guys like Lawrence, and COPPS and humaguy and a few others here have given my the hopes(not comparing myself to them by any means. I can't even hold a flame to them), but having an 11'ft tank that I can section off makes it easier to want to try it too.

Go for it otherwise you will be kicking yourself about the one that got away (pun intended). Besides, it's the holiday season...lots of parties and dinners for you to be invited to before the new year. Don't forget some ziplock bags so you can take some leftovers home. :D

Just get MJ[emoji12] derek

And i am not in the same league or don't belong same sentence to teds or johns collection. But i follow johns advice which is get the fish that excite you.

To brett
Gems tang are not really rare they are just very hard to import but they are very unique. Conspic is very rare thats why some people love it,
Poma looks very similar so as maze angel but maze to me looks a lot better. To this day my favorite fish are still moorish idol, rs regal, rs emperor, achilles and scribble angel. None of them are super rare or expensive i just like them.

oh, you know you aren't gonna be able to resist. looking forward to seeing him in your qt. ;)

I have a purple yellow And a scopas (poor man's gem) along with a yellow mimic tang in a 180... no fighting. I just feed a lot for the first few days while they figure out who's who. Seems to work for me.

Yeah Lawrence, not too many can compare to COPPS. But when it comes to adding some fish, taking a calculated risk there are so e that will try. Wayne is another with a collection that has amazing diversity. Love reading his stuff too.

Lol. I go by later today to check it out.
Then maybe if i decide on it, I'll have to figure out how to take pics and upload with my iPad.

@ Brett. An 11' tank w furniture grade stand alone could be $10k. Just an apex is $1,000 with a couple extras. Etc. This is one expensive hobby.

Luckily I found the tank and stand with a poop load of items for $1500. It was a steal cuz the guy was moving out of country and needed it gone. He had it set for freshwater, so I sold the pumps, lights, filters, chiller(lived in Arizona), and all the extras(he had tons).
I try to buy most of my equipment used. And no apex for me. I have 2 DA reef keeper lites. I only have them set for my lights. I'm not a fan of full automation. I've had stuff go wrong in the past. So I keep a mixed reef, dose manually, and don't use a heater. KISS for me.

But yes, expensive hobby regardless.

And YES, as most of you expected, myself included, I picked him up!
He is settling in in QT at moment. Not treating at moment, just observing and fattening him up more before he goes into DT.
I'll try to figure out how to transfer pics.

Congrats!! I had a chance to get one earlier this year for a steal & it was absolute torture to pass it up since I don't have a big enough tank now & only god knows how fast they grow.
