Generator availability

I use a portable generac and that exact transfer switch, minus the exterior outlet. I used a homemade 30' cord to get inside to the basement. I got it at home depot. It wasn't too hard to install, but took a lot of detective work to figure out what circuits I should tap.

If I did it again I'd get an automatic one.. But they are like $2k I guess..

I have a 12 circuit generac natural gas got it on line for $1700 includes transfer switch no tax and no shipping works great considering what we have invested in our tanks it is well worth it !!!!!!!!

without the auto-on feature I don't need a generator because I'm all set.

I need automatic on and transfer. Doing my homework and saying prayers for those people downstate. It's soo bad down there.

You can save a little money if you install it yourself. They require a lot of gas, so if you have a nice spot neat your gas meter, that would be perfect. You can pour a nice concrete pad to set it on and pipe the gas line. The hardest part would be the electrical, unless its on the same wall near the gas meter. Maybe you know an electrician that will work for beer haha
