Karen,Yup! I've been busy. Also been dying to share it and thought it would be easier to stay low until after it was announced.
I've updated my blog with G. personatus info.

Just gotta say THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL THE SUPPORT I'VE RECIEVED THROUGH REEF CENTRAL!!!!!!
:headwally:lol, another killer pic from macna that I am not in...
You betternext year...
Karen,
It was such a pleasure to hear your presentation via Skype at the MBI conference this year!
Little did I know that you would blow the socks off of it at MACNA this year during Rufus' presentation :crazy1:
I had the opportunity to see five of your babies in person, and literally welled up. I didn't cry since I was standing next to Julian Sprung and he consoled me
Somehow, I kept it together during Rufus' presentation, but there may have been a single tear shed due to pure elation hearing Rufus talk about the project, and seeing you up on that big screen.
Cheers to you for your continued success! I very much look forward to meeting you in person someday
While several of us threw some major cash at the raffle, we all know by now that Wayne won this incredible fish, and he can now keep a trio. Wanye, Darrel and I were ready to snatch that ticket and say, "Okay, NEXT!"
This project was by far the highlight of my MACNA (which is always my Xmas, New Years, B Day all in one wonderful weekend). I was able to leave with a little something to take home for myself, and held some awesome conversations with those involved during "MACNA after hours".
Ah, now I'm tearing up. Seriously. Where's Julian when I need him?!
Rufus said he had a great time at MACNA and met so many good people. I'm so happy to be a part of this and share in the excitement with all of you even from over the internet. I would love to meet you all in person and hopefully I will one day.
I've been looking for photos from MACNA and haven't seen too many so I'm glad you shared yours. Maybe we can photoshop myself and Ted in! :spin1:

Glad to hear I wasn't alone... I spent the entire Sat of Macna in tears as this project was revealed, I never anticipated that! In retrospect, perhaps it was a good thing I didn't go as I would have been the teary eyed fool walking around Colorado..can't wait for the next project that will bring tears! :lolspin::eek1::lolspin:
First off congrats on an amazing job. I know RTC was also doing this in 2007 and has since been MIA even after several emails to him.
Wow this is amazing and is something I have tried to do for a couple years from 1997 to 1998 and had no luck raising the fry. Congrats and would really like to know more about the breeding behavior and what you used for the first food source. I tried to raise centropyge aurantius for almost two years and never once got the fry to live past 72 hours. I will try and post a picture of the adults to show you how the male changes color to attract the female.
The closest I got was when A friend of my at the Brooklyn aquarium , when I was a docent there told me to put fresh water blood worms in saltwater. Then Let them decay and the little white parasites looking creatures that you see in the jar moving around remove them and try feeding to the fry it. Well that did work but I never got them past the 72 hours and then lost the male so I gave up on breeding them. I think if I still had a breeding pair of centropyge angels I would be able to do it as I have more space and a few good ideas.
I have been thinking about doing it again with Centropyge multicolor but I have learned there are other strains of food that I will need first that I must get. But one key food is no longer available cyclop ezee and is key to getting fry to eat none living foods. Well this is another story LOL
What are your thoughts on these first food ?
Parvocalanus or bestiolina copepods?
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Michael
Hi Michael, RCT is still doing research and an amazing job working with larval fish. Here's Franks current website. http://www.bluereefphoto.org/blog
Parvocalanus and Bestiolina are great first foods that will work with Centropyge. I hope you get a pair of multicolors and try captive breeding again!
Great Work! What are these guys currently going for?
Hey everyone, here's a short video of the parents of the brood that I shot when I visited Karen back in April. She graciously hosted me for hours and answered all my questions as I was in shock and in awe the entire time!

What you can't see in the video, that I witnessed in person is the male actually flashed its body colors when it got excited. This happened when Karen fed the tank. It was to totally cool!
