The plumbing all appears to have been hot-air welded. The pumps utilize uniseals.

They are definitely nice products. I have a dual sedra 9000 model as well as now the 6x18 calcium reactor which replaces a MRC compact dual model. I also have a media chamber.

The setup is nice- I really like the autofill bubble counter, and the clear top is good to see if there is good contact with the gasket. So far, it seems like it's taken less CO2 to get he pH down where I want it.

How often do you guys clean the collection cups on your GEOs? I've been doing weekly. I can see that there is much less coming out on a daily basis than before (I was skimmerless) as it has removed the gunk and is keeping things much cleaner and clearer (even noticibly less algae growth on the glass)

I empty my cup weekly. I just shut off the recirc pumps and take the cup off.

I punched a hole in the side for a uniseal to a bucket, but attempt to never get it that high. There is also an emergency drain that if it hits 3/4 on the bucket starts to dump it back into the tank instead. Yes, I know that could be a risk, but better than emptying a sump on the floor and burning up pumps :)

I had to adjust mine a few times a month on the old setup, but since I put it on a dedicated pump instead of tank overflow, I haven't touched it once other than to empty the cup.

Well after all the talk of the GEO Calcium reactors and the wait for someone to get the 6x12 models in again I figured I would finally get around to posting a pic. Do I get my official GEO members card now :) Still need to get it hooked up but the quality in craftsmanship on this is unit is very nice.

Well, things were truckin along up until about a month and a half ago:

But, my calcium is dropping two fast. My 58 has almost 3 full walls covered in coraline, and the corals I have in my tanks seem to be sucking up more and more.

So...

Only have my frag tank left to acquire, then luckily I'm set on hardware for a long time. Glad phishy has this stuff in stock now (yeah, yeah, hate the local Columbus guys heh) :)

I'm working on the calcium reactor now. I read through the old pages on this thread again, and saw brass check valves mentioned a few times. Unfortunately, it didn't seem like anyone agreed on what was best to use to protect the CO2 tank.

Thoughts?

Just got a 612 Geo Reactor, the teflon screws on the lid, are they supposed to hand tightened only cause it's leaking from the lid, does anyone use a wrench on these screws to to get a better seal?

Yes, you wrench them down. Now understand, don't crank them until you can't anymore. From what I remember, GEO recommended having a 2-3 mm thick circle where the seal is squashed against the lid. That will give you an idea of how tight to make it.

I'm talking about the lid on the cr, the 8 teflon screw, so I guess after hand tightening them, do a half turn with a wrench on all of them and if it still leaks, if it does, tighten a little more and hopefully the leak stops.

I can't imagine running a maxijet full open as the feed pump, I'm using a mini-jet and it's leaking

look at the oring and it should be smashed down alittle. yes I used a scocket on mine works great just don't strip them

Also, the SMALLEST amount of silicone grease (just enough to coat the o-ring) will stop leakages as well.

On my Ca rx I go hand tight plus 2 turns with a nut driver, A good indicator is the rubber seal. you will see that squash down as you tightened,

Also tightened these up using the same method as you would to tightened lug nuts up on a car. in an opposite pattern.

HTH's

p.s. I use a nut driver to tighten

I cleaned out the collection cup last week. Here is four days of serious skimming:) I'm still running a little wet as I'm trying to get as much out as possible. Once things balance out, I'll lean out the mix a bit... I'm still very impressed and excited about the Geo line! What a nice hidden treasure!
