I ordered a Geo external recirc skimmer over the weekend, just got my tracking number from Geo. Be here on Wednesday , I cant wait, it will be replacing my EV120 . It will also run beside my Geo Nielson reactor and Geo Calcium reactor.

Wow
I ordered mine on Dec 22nd. On the 28th he told me he had some orders in front of mine but he was starting a batch of 8" skimmers. That was the last I've heard from him. I emailed him a couples of times the last few weeks to find out how much longer but he hasn't gotten back with me.

Looking for a new reactor for a 150 with a 60 gallon sump and wanted to see what size you guys think would be best? The tank is full of SPS and a few clams so I was thinking the 6X18 would this work out for me?

Here is a pic of my skimmer after being wet tested.

Got my Kalk reactor today, very nice. :)

Does it have to pump to a point higher than the reactor? Because I have it sitting on a shelf which is just higher than the sump, and by doing it this way, the kalk syphons out of the output. I'm using a LMIII to feed the reactor.

That's a nice skimmer Tony! It looks even better with your photography skills! :D What's the ball valve down at the bottom for? I guess I've never seen one like that before.

I asked Geo to put a drain valve at the bottom to make it easier to remove the pump for maintenance reasons.
This skimmer is really big compared to what I am used to. But I wanted it that way in case I ever upgrade to a bigger tank from my 75g. With this skimmer I am that much closer to upgrading.
Here is a pic of it next to my AquaC 120EV, and the EV120 is on a 4" stand in the sump.

What AquaC are you talking about? :D It's funny how your GEO makes it look so small. Is yours the NW628 or NW828? Also I've never heard of the GenX 6000 before, I've only seen the 4100. Let us know how it works out for you.

I have my new skimmer hooked up. I need help on setting water level and air.
I closed the gate valve till the water laised to about the bottom of the cone at the union, I have the air valve set to about 2:00.
The skimmer body is filled with white tiny bubbles, but they are not climbing the riser tube yet, they are right at the bottom of it. It has been running about 1 hour now.
Any input is appreciated. Should I just leave it alone for a day and then see where water levels are?

tonym10,
What are you using to feed the skimmer? I feed about 400gph thru mine.
Adjust the gate valve until you see the bubbles/water level at about the height of the union. The bubbles will be small at first, but as your skimmer breaks in you'll see the bubbles on top start to increase in size and climb the foam riser. Once you play around with the water height in the skimmer to tune it, it will be smooth sailing from there.
Not sure about the air valve because I run mine wide open.

I am feeding it with a mag 5, with a ball valve closed to a flow threw iof about 250gph, I have a mag 2 on order to feed it, that should feed about 200 gph wide open, and my tank is only 75g.
I think that is where I have the water/bubble level adjusted now, I closed the gate valve till it rose to about the union, its bubbling there, just not climbing yet.
I didnt know if i should close the gate valve more, or change the air valve, although changing the air doesnt seem to affect the level. Or if I should leave it run for a day to settle in before adjusting any more.

First I would just make sure that you're getting the recommended gph fed to the skimmer which I think is 200gph. You might want to ask GEO for sure. Then adjust your gate valve to set the height. There's really not much to play with besides the airflow, depending on if you want to skim wet or dry.

Yea the gph is a little over 200gph. I have now adjusted the highdth of the water in the skimmer to the bottom of the union with the gen x pump off. With the genx pump on and the air valve wide open the bubbles climb 1/2 way up the riser tude.

Help- Geo Fans!

i need a good skimmer for my 210. It is a combo ttank of fish, clams, acros, sps everything. I have been borrowing my friends euroreef cs8-2 that is rated for 150 gallons. It takes out alot of gunk. I must give it back to him. I hear Geo is much higher quality. I have had problems removing skim cup with Euro. I had a ASM g4x. What a piece of .... Also it was 13*14 foot print. Too big for my sump. This Euro is 11.5*13 perfect size. What do you guys recommend.

How does this compare to the H & s.?

I have emailed George a few times but he does not get back or when he does his answers never answer my questions.

Any ideas.?

My skimmer has started to make foam instead of just bubbles.
Geo got back to me, told me to leave it set up as I have it.
I think I am already loving this skimmer.
