GEO 618 is now up and running today. Did not have any problems in setting up and getting it running. Now waiting to see the results after things become stable.

That's a good question. You can use multiple magnetic drive pumps like the Gen-X, Ocean Runner or the Sedra, or you can go with one direct drive pump like the Sequence Dart. The Dart hasn't been released to the public yet, but should be out later this year. So far in order to use the direct drive pump, you need to inject air into the venturi with a separate air pump.

Got my new GEO 618 the other day and here are the results so far. I am very impressed with this unit.

Here are the test numbers:

7/30
dKH 8.6
PH 8.1
CA 470
MG 1440

7/31
dKH 7.0
PH 8.1
CA 450
MG ---

8/01
dKH 7.0
PH 8.1
CA 460
MG 1410

Was using a two part system before starting up the Geo also noticed that the PH went from 8.1 in the morning to 8.24 in the yesterday afternoon which is a normal swing during the day.

More info and please not that I am also dripping Kalk 24/7.

BPM is 45, and 90 ML per min.

The Aquarium is a 200 gal reef tank with Clams and SPS corals medium load with a 60 gal sump.

Overall the dKH is a little low at 7.0 but stable as is the Calcium at 450 avg. I will need to wait another day or so to see if anything needs to be tweaked and will provide another update then but for now leaving everything as is.

If I can attempt to interpret your question, I believe GEO mentioned the standard GPH pump should be about in the 250-350 range for something like his 8" by 25-35" model. So depending on your placement, something between a MAG2-5 could work for feeding the skimmer. The recirc pump is primarily to get water flowing inside the skimmer and add in the air bubbles.

Sorry, that part of the question flew right over my head:rolleyes:

RokleM is correct for that size of skimmer. I gravity feed mine with a 1" pipe from an external overflow. I'm not exactly sure how much gph that would be.

cward how long do think it will take to get a skimmer from geo ,i was asking you because you know george will and live in the same town?

Your best bet unless you have a super urgent need for some sort of modified skimmer is to purchase via an online retailer with them in stock. For example, I was by phishybusiness today and they currently have them.

Yup, great customer service too. I was pricing out a few of the big boys and was told 4-6 weeks on the custom orders.

Well I finally became a GEO club member yesterday! I received my 4' X 8" from Phishy...

Here is a quick picture of the beast being broken in with a little vinegar:

I got it plumbed late last night with a few minor hick-ups, but nothing major...
