Ghetto Rig

coketech is correct, they are really good at regulating the drips at to a certain extent. On mine, they do drip at 10 ml per minute +/-.

Thats why its critical to use a 7 day digital timer. Why?

What if you want 70ml a week of dosing? Thats easy just do 1 min a day.
What if you want 210ml a week? Still easy, just do 3 min a day.

Then what if you want 250ml a week? Thats where the 7 day timer comes in.
I can do 4 minutes of Monday to Friday, Then 3 minutes for Saturday and then 2 minutes for Sunday. Total of 25 minutes.

Hope I did not confused you more.

Im using the BRS recipe system and so far no deposit buildup so far, Just at the tip where it is exposed to air on the alk side. That is easily fixed by adding another 2 inch of hose line after the dripper. In that way, the hose is the one exposed to air not the dripper.

you use timers and the drip head wich lets you get say 60 drips a min?

something like that. But i dont refer to drips but instead to ml. I believe that the garden drippers (mine 0.5 gallon per minute) are self regulating no matter what psi (up to 40???) you are using. whether it is gravity feed or from the faucet.

I cannot do gravity feed because i want a controlled quantity over a period of time thats why i used an aqualifter so that I can raise the dripper above the gallon container. I also put a check valve so that the fluid inside the hose will not go back to the container. This way, there will be no lag... when the timers on, it will start dripping right away.

i love that dosing method! i have had problems with the digital timers but maybe i got a bad batch. i would love to get an overall shot of that......to copy!!!

Collie,

I also thought of the worst case scenario, imagine the timer will not shut off and will keep dosing the whole gallon to your tank...!!!!

To solve this issue, use a secondary smaller container that will maybe dose two weeks worth of fluids??? in this case, it will only dump that much and not the whole gallon.

And maybe just top it off every two weeks?

Ok lights with homemade aluminum foil reflectors, and duct tape to hold fixtures in place. Using two blue party bulbs and two 6500K full spectrum lights along with natural sunlight. One of the 6500k bulbs is in a lamp on the right end. Side with crack in tank is pegged against the wall with a disney book to give the cracked pane of glass support so it doesn't flex!

You tube video so you can see the sunlight shimmer I get for 4-5 hours a day.

Keep up the great work everyone. Funniest comment on mos' ghetto piece of work -:

hahahaa..... Thats just too funny!

"Honey, I need that big brown box...."
"OK... I need pipe cutters, PVC, Glue, and a coupling."

Seriously, 2 more 90s would have avoided the window altogether, that's just plain lazy!! hahahaha, I love it! My stomach hurts..... :lolspin:

Reminds of something I would do.

So what size tank will you be upgrading too when that thing explodes open? lol
O' Ye of little faith... I ran another tank like that for several years with no problems of that sort, see no reason why i can't run this one that long as well. Actually didn't brace that one it was unbraced, so at least this one has that much. With that said I am looking to get a bigger tank 100g-220g size and use this tank as the refuge.
