Ghetto Rig

O' Ye of little faith... I ran another tank like that for several years with no problems of that sort, see no reason why i can't run this one that long as well. Actually didn't brace that one it was unbraced, so at least this one has that much. With that said I am looking to get a bigger tank 100g-220g size and use this tank as the refuge.

I have a pretty used 125g from Clear for Life acrylic tanks if you are looking to upgrade ghetto style. you can have it for $200.

Ok here it is. Think this may be almost too ghetto. 30 gallon tank on the work bench in the garage. Lights are 3 23W spiral florescents keeping a bunch of zoanthids alive. To top it all off got the best skimmer in the world... A Seaclone.

ok heres my 50g basement sump, oct 250 skimmer and mag 9.5 in use with 2 x 2LF GFO reactors and the 20g ato kalk tub behind the iwaki pump

just drilled my glass on the 50 to hook up the bulkhead for my iwaki pump for my new 215g DT going in soon.

notice the concrete floor is crooked in this 100 year old house :)

This thread is awesome... Makes me feel like I'm not the only one out there w/o a spotless perfect tank... Stay tuned while I dig up some of my ghetto-fab pics...

The garden irrigation drippers are pretty good at keeping a stable rated drip-rate under a range of pressures until they eventually clog up with mineral deposits. Good ghettoing!

Where do you get these garden drippers? Only thing I can find is these http://www.amazon-irrigation.com/acatalog/Drippers.html

Removed back brace in my 55 stand and "fixed" it so I could fit a 15 high for a sump...

How haven't I started a fire yet?

Wow, afboundguy, you went all out on the ghetto rigging. Its amazing at how much stuff you have packed in there. :D

Love Ipswich. Used to go there all the time and go canoing at Foote's landing (grew up in Gloucester). Topsfield to Ipswich was about a half day trip.

I had to get inventive with small fish funds and even smaller room :spin2:

I can fit more though and this thread has given me some good ideas :inlove:

Here is a ghetto rig i made to hold up a 150W metal halide pendant that the height adjustment broke on. Its just over a softie tank in the basement.

I used a couple short 2x4 scrap and some leftover wire from 12-2 romex.

Wrapped the wire through the light housing for support.

Wrapped the wire around the 2x4s and used electrician staples to support it.
