2. How long does your light project run at its max intensity?

3. What colour (K) is it at max intensity?

would it be worth me changing my order from GHL Mitras LX6100 HV to the LX6200HV?

I cant tell what much difference there is between the two really.

I quite liked the fact you could have a little red and yellow in the spectrum, although I like the blue look would of liked the option of a more warmer
look you. Really think they should of not gone for all blue, more yes but not all blue. This is more of sidestep than a upgrade

Little will change for the new Mitras with regard to the fixture housing or even the overall functionality. Where the changes are coming, however, are the spectra of the LEDs. Due to popular demand, the Mitras LX 6200 HV will shift its color pallet to the bluer side by offering 9 separately dimmable colors. The resulting look has a more intense blue peak, which yields higher PAR values.

As for the LEDs, the LX 6200 HV is just oozing with colors. It has12 x Cree XP-E blue, 12 x Cree XT-E cool white, 12 x Cree XT-E royal blue, 6 x Cree XT-E neutral white, 6 x Osram Oslon SSL true green, 6 x Osram Oslon SSL sky white, 6 x Osram Oslon SSL blue white, 6 x Osram Oslon SSL hyperred, and 6 x hyper violet 425 nm emitters. This layout differs from the Mitras LX 6100 HV (aka the original) by ditching the Osram Oslon SSL yellow and red LEDs and replacing them with Osram Oslon SSL sky white and blue white diodes.

If you go all blue then the lamp is no longer full spectrum and you would have nothing to pick up the warm tones in your corals especially reds so in no way this is anyway a side step, if the red was eliminated then yes that would be

well it is a side step,y as they are not offering something better but something only slightly different configured. They should of kept some yellow and red (not talking about hyperred) and added more blue as a choice and let the user decide what they would like to keep. Maybe even added some 405nm UV like the radions.

I have yet to see a led manufacturer get it all right

I am not sure what you are looking at do you don't own a mitras or maybe another brand but the 6200 does still have red and also has a greater level in hyper violet .so I really don't see your thoughts on this

The hyper red which is the important temperature remains but the bright red is out to add more blue as you said you wanted.

I am just confused because your first post said to make it all blue but now you want the yellow and red back,

Whichever as expected both lamps have been met with huge enthusiasm so I guess they got it right

AQD: I think GHL have made a very wise choice! I like the specs on this Mitras even better. :thumbsup:

Now please ask GHL for their next project to take a 250w or 400w Radium, add 2 tubes of the old T12 VHO Actinics then obtain a spectral plot of the overall light.

Then go away and make a light based on that! Now that would be the perfect spectrum. :dance:

You are not missing out on anything its is a very fine tweak its come more into play with the deeper tanks over 30" and even then you can adjust the 6100 to pretty much anything.

I am actually thinking of keeping my order for the 6100 HV rather than changing it for the 6200. Think they should of kept some yellow in there and some 405nm UV would of been nice too.

As explained in the article, the BLUE LOOK is not much favoured over here in Europe. I personally prefer a Blue look that is slightly reddish in tone(sry hard to explain) On some you tube videos you see this ice cold blue or very deep blue which is not to my favour. This model seem to be aimed at the American market as explained in the article.

shame you cant mix modules from 6100 and 6200

but whatever model you have they will be configurable so should be happy with whatever they send.

I was hoping they kept some degree of yellow or Red or actually kept it as it is and just added more blue option. Similar to radions offer more LED colour from the gen 1 to gen 2 to their pro. Was looking for a upgrade rather than another colour option.

not disappointed with offering from GHL but not ecstatic either.

You will be very happy with the 6100HV hundreds of people are

The 6200HV should not be over thought really the tweaks are minimal GHL are not ones to put the noses out of joint of previous users.

Basically the 6200 comes more out of the box defined with default blue where as the 6100 you tweak it to get pretty much the same result.

Both models will continue to be available the 6200 is not a replacement, we have just chosen to make it the default unit for sale as it is the most current model.

I was just wondering out of interest, i know its possible to upgrade the 6100 HV to 6200HV but is it possible to go in reverse? ie downgrade a 6200HV to A 6100HV?

The 6100HV is now sold out in North America unless you are one that got shipped today to The Fish Store.

The 6200's arrive in about 14 days and this is the standard model and will remain so.

yes you can downgrade but if you have a 6200HV coming there is absolute no reason to downgrade however I am sure a 6100 user that has upgraded would happily do you a deal on their existing clusters.

Considering the very slight increase in PAR I would be happy with the 6200 to be honest. I would be amazed if anyone wanted to downgrade their lamp. You said earlier you wanted more blue with red toes, this is exactly what the 6200 provides.
