GHL Mitras Club

Excellent call TBP. I've seen so many "dimming" issues are stemming from the Moon simulation. IMHO it's a very good part of the software but I think people don't fully understand how/when it works.

Good catch :)

Part of the Mitras club now, picked one up at MACNA.

However, I need to program my light. I plan on using boot camp bc I'm a Mac user. Should I buy Windows 8/8.1 or Windows 7, which program runs smoother when using ghl software?

Tried to use my old laptop using windows xp and I could not get a connection with the USB cable. It listed a com port connection in device manager but I was not able to connect. Any help is appreciated, thanks guys.

Can't help,with the mac

But see if you can get a update for the USB drivers from the manufacture of your laptop I did this to mine and it works fine now

I don't know if this will work but it did for me. Once the light is pluged In to the computer go to device manager. Once you are there go to com ports and see if the fixture is there by pluging the USB connector in and out unt you see what comp port it's hooked up to. If you see it, it wil show you com port 4 ( this is an example only) once you no the comp port you must tell the software were to find the light by adding number 4 ( example only ) Once this is done you will see your light fixture connected in light composer. I hope this helps as I am out of ideas if it doesn't. I can't help with the Mac sorry

Ok, thanks I just did and see no driver update for usb. My computer is old, I think I got it in 2004.

Thanks for the help trueblackpercula, I did what you said and went into device manager on my computer and it shows it has the ghl com 4 port. I went into the ghl software and changed the connections settings to connect to com 4, but I still get no connection. Am I supposed to be connected to internet in order for this program to work?, my guess is no but I thought I would ask because my laptop is so old it only does WEP encryption.

I think I am going to go buy a windows 7 copy and run bootcamp. I have done this before with my old hard drive and was able to run windows fine on my mac.

Just want to know if anyone has used a mac via bootcamp to control the mitras. I will play with it a little more once I figure it out.

Please keep us (me) updated about the bootcamp and Mac running the ghl programs. This is the only way for me, I don't have anything but macs.

Question for distributor: a wireless box to connect to router for non profilux owners was suppose to come out beginning of 2014? I have a profilux now so wireless card would work fine for me, but curious when this other box for non profilux owners will be out?

Got it to work!!! MUhahaha!

I am using Windows 8.1 free trial version download with bootcamp on my 13" retina macbook pro.

I was going to go out and buy Windows 7 but I figured I would download the latest Windows 8.1 trial for 1 month to see if I could get it to work. Now all I have to do is pay to buy the activation code. The current activation code I am using is only good for one month. I just programmed my mitras but I have no time to play with it because of work. :sad2:

Sadly my notebook from 2004 running windows xp was literally falling apart, I did not want to use it and did not spend enough time trying to get the drivers to work. Windows 8.1 has really fast boot times, its much better to go the bootcamp/Windows 8.1 route.

If you have any questions about using mac with boot camp let me know and I can help you with what I did to make it work.

Advice? I have 3x6100hv. Tank is an elos160xl. Dimensions: 63x31x23t tank Will I be fine with 2? Ive seen many users 72-84" use 3. Will I be able to light it with 2 and be good enough for mix reef? If 2 is good enough I'm going to run the other 1 on my e70 (55g).

And does any one know answer to my question above since no one from ghl is answering. When and if the non profilux wireless box coming out? I read through this whole thread and back at end of 2013, it was said by ghl dist that it should be out early 2014, it's now September :/

Do u just install evrything (ghl software etc) directly into the computer while running windows on bootcamp, and run all the programs like you're actually on a pc? Anything I should know, tips tricks? I have a MacBook Pro i7, 2.2ghz, 15", 16g ram, 750g hd

TBP do you have a current FTS ?

Interested to see how your SPS are going with the mitras

I will be starting a thread up soon. I really don't have much since this is almost a rebuild as I lost half my Sps. But the ones that did make it are looking amazing. I am picking up 9 maricultured pieces of this weekend and next so that's when I will start documenting the growth under mitras.

Yes, first install Windows 8.1 via bootcamp. Then download GHL software running Windows 8.1 through bootcamp. Once this is done go to device manager (open up window) and look to see if your mitras establishes a connection when you connect the mitras led lamp to your computers usb port.

If there is an exclamation point on the "com" connection in device manager then double click that exclamation point to open up the driver window, go to install driver tab, and manually install the driver. To do this you have to go to browse, then Program files, then GHL control center folder, then driver folder.

The tricky part is that the driver folder appears empty but I guess the driver is in the driver folder, so open that up and click install. This will install the missing usb driver and I think it asks you to restart. Then go back to ghl open it up, and click connect, you should be able to connect now.

I used this guys website, http://www.123myit.com, to learn how to install Windows 8.1 on bootcamp. He also has videos on how to make a bootable Windows 8.1 usb, has Windows 8.1 iso file in downloads section, and activation code. Lastly, has a video on how to remove certificate to driver downloads. I did do this on my computer but I am not sure if it helped. First try the steps above and see if it works without removing the certificate for driver downloads.

needs some advice really fast please. I just added three new sps mari cultured pieces and getting 6 more next week.

My question is >>>>>>I am running my light on 90% on high Output. Should i lower my intensity and if so to what and for how long?

I'd say lower them by 30%, wait for the other pieces and then start bringing it back by 5% per week.
In my experience, it's really the white LEDs that can do damage if too intense..
