Gig - time to hit the panic button?

I've had my carpet (gig) for around 10 days now and up to now has been inflated and looking great. This morning I found him like this:

Time to treat or wait and see what happens? Is there even a problem? Like I said earlier, this is the first time it has done this. And the first time I have had an issue with an anemone (all other nems have been TR BTA clones) so I am a little nervous.

Thanks for any insight!

I'd wait for a bit, 10 days isn't very long, they can take weeks to get completely comfortable. If it were me, I wouldn't panic unless it looked like it's insides were coming out or it went completely deflated and limp. It doesn't look all that bad to me. Moving the big bugger around might make it worse if in fact anything is even wrong. It's a tough anemone to care for, a little bit demanding in the way of lighting and overall water quality. Try covering his foot up some, it might help some since that's what they like anyway.

+1. Looks OK to me. I would wait to see how it looks, and if it continues to decline, I would treat.

Don't panic yet. One of my gigs did this a couple times during its first two weeks and I was really close to pulling for treatment but held off. That was over 8 months ago and it is doing great.

Thanks for the feedback.

I didn't treat as it was about 3/4s the overall size previous to the "issue" when I got up the next day. It's mouth is closed up tight and he just overall looks pretty good. I'm going to do a WC tomorrow and observe for a few days and hope for the best.

Any other things I should be doing or just wait it out?

Just waiting is the best thing for it. Hopefully it anchors itself to something solid and keeps it's foot buried. I'm not sure how long to wait before feeding, I waited about a week then gave it a go, my haddoni just devours anything.

Gigs prefer anchoring down on rocks usually at the base where the sand is. They do not bury there foot.

When the anemone is looking his best today, is he better than yesterday at his best? You may snap some pictures everyday and compare. If the trend is worst then treat him, it the trend id better, or at least the same then no need to treat.
Sick anemone can look good at times, just trending down.
The picture above does not show a Gigantea at optimal health, with is OK for new anemone, but it should be getting better everyday.

+1. The overall pastel color is indicative of a sick anemone, but it's not indicative of one that needs treatment. Definitely keep an eye on it and if it starts to expel brown pellets or deflates, start treatment.

Yes - he looks better than he did yesterday. He is fuller and bigger than he was even yesterday. Although today he does seem to have his mouth open a tad.

Do they deflate when they move? He is definitely getting off of the sandbed and moving up into the rocks. Its a slow process but I bet he has gained 2 inches in the past two days.

D-nak - The pastel may be an affect of my photography/editing (poor). He is much much bluer in person.

It's looks better, and I can see the brown undertones in the newer set of photos. Typically when they take on a pastel look, it means that their zoox population is low, dead or dying.

Thanks! Im really not much of a photographer so I struggle with it. I REALLY want this guy to thrive so if you guys see something I am doing wrong please point it out.

Looks like you've got a Gyre, which makes me think you may be removing your MPs. If not, I recommend putting the foam covers on at least the one on the back wall, in case the gig crawls up the rockwork.

If I am you, I remove those A. polymnus. They kill my healthy huge Haddoni anemone by dive into the body and rip the inners and eat it. They kill one and were working on the second one but I got them to the LFS. I would hate for you to loose that nice anemone becasue of these nasty fish
