I don't think pH is the problem. Gigantea tend to like it a little warmer, IMO. Mine seem to do better with temp between 80 and 82 Still our thermometer is not all that accurate. You be surprise about he variability between those digital thermometer that we have available for us to use.
From what you wrote, I am not sure why your anemone go into a decline.

at what point do you give up? I don't know how far gone before the cipo treatment can't and won't work.. but the nem is just letting go pieces. I'd say like 30% of it is just dissolving / getting stringy. I wish I could just cut off the parts that aren't effected yet like an acro. Normally if I wasn't trying Cipo at this point I would have believed it's past the point of return.

I don't have any pics from a few weeks ago.. and now it looks like a dieing anemone. I can't get the water to clear up in the cipo tank so you won't be able to see anything in the pic. I'm sure you have all seen what that looks like. As of this morning it's starting let go from the mouth threw the foot (you can see holes). I'm pretty sure there is no turning back. I just don't know how far a long people have been able to recover nems with cipo this is my first time needing/using it. If it keeps at the rate it's at It will be goo in 24 hours.

Water change... even if you have to do close to 100% At least try to give it a last chance.

When the water is not clear, I would do 100% water change and dose medication. From your description, he is a goner. I would second worm suggestion.

IME when the water gets cloudier and cloudier it's an indicator that the nem is decomposing (falling apart). This is different from an injury which an anemone can recover from because it's healthy (such as getting stuck in a powerhead). I just treated a red haddoni for a few days and each day the water got progressively cloudy and the nem never responded in a positive way to Cipro. I did 100% water changes. What I found interesting was that the water cleared up a couple of days after I removed the dead haddoni (the busy holiday weekend prevented me from cleaning up).

If you can see bits and pieces of the nem pulling off the main body, sorry to tell you that it's probably time to remove it.

I agree with d-nak. it has to have signs that it is still moving/acvitve. If it does not improve by tomorrow... pull the plug... stop wasting and worrying over it. I am sorry to say, but there does come a time.

As it stands... you have the resources to treat them. Knowing is 1/2 the battle and the rest is up to them.

Get some cipro or fishflox... read the sticky... get ready when you get another one.

I don't think I'll get another one for some time. I'm not going to be actively looking for one that's for sure. My tank is pretty stable.. Stable enough to grow SPS and maintain good colours so it doesn't make sense as to why after 3 months of recovery the nem just turned around in a week or so. It's not like anything else in the tank has taken a turn for the worse as well and all my tests don't show any large shifts if water conditions.. I donnu. I've had good success with Ritteri in the past I may go back to that if I decide to get another nem.

These animals are complex and there is still a LOT we do not know about them, even though we think we're experts.. My purple is approaching one year with us, and green is a few months away but I wouldn't feel comfortable and relax until you have had the Gig for at the very least six months, but more comfortable at a year.
