Gigantea Sting and Tentacle detachment

I had to move some rocks by the area of my gigantea and my hand brushed past my gigantea. While this isn't the first time I've been stung by a gigantea, it was the first time the tentacles detached and stuck to my hand. The sting is like no other that I've experienced before (in my experience gigantea stings are milder than haddoni stings). The detached tentacles would not even wash off without major scrubbing. I've never seen tentacles come off in this way before (and I've been stung many many times). Has this happened to anyone else?

While I realize that I can only wait and see to see how the gigantea survives losing like 15 of its tentacles, I'd also like to stop this terrible stinging sensation. Any home remedies?

I think vinegar will help some. Also, I would never chance something like this, so it's a bad burning sensation, ER is the place to go.

Vinegar should help a lot -- always has for me when I made the mistake of touching my S. Haddoni without a glove.

As for it losing its tentacles, it will be fine (( assuming it was otherwise healthy )), while trying to save a fish once I had my hand covered in Haddoni tentacles. My hand did swell up a bit and it stung like heck. Vinegar and some Benedryl (( spelling )) helped a lot.

Thanks for the advice, Todd. That must have hurt very badly. How bad was the damage to the anemone? It must have been really difficult to scrub off all those tentacles.

Luckily, it is a very healthy specimen and seems to have reinflated, though I can see the tiny area where there are fewer tentacles.

It hurt like crazy, but went away after the vinegar and benedryl. The damage was fairly bad -- cosmetically, but about 2 weeks later you couldn't tell any difference. There were about three bald spots, about an inch in diameter.
