Lisa,

We have already made arrangements with Joy. We have our venue selected and most arrangements completed.

This is a SLASH event but as usual, SEASL members are welcome to attend.

That's not what I was told.

Lisa, it's time that folks realize that we are SLASH and not SEASL once removed. We set our own meetings and functions.

Discussion of a joint meeting is over.

Lisa...I think the majority has spoken and you were the only one not wanting it to happen as planned. Since the membership of both clubs is mostly the same I don't see it as a conflict. No one has ever said the BOD of seasl wasn't welcome, I think their attendance would be welcomed. Inland trips are easy to arrange, but a manufacturer meeting isn't. The membership was asked and all that replied said have it as planned. Seems like case closed to me. If it is that important to you try and get Seasl to reschedule.

Make sense?

You also alienate potential members when you act like this. These kinds of actions and attitudes are what keep me from wanting to join...

Seriously, I think we all knew this discussion was headed this way by the end of today.

I am sick of hearing about what each club needs and wants. This is SLASH right? When I was in high school I had to pick between baseball and drama club the teachers didn't accommodate me to join both. I could however do the fall play for drama and play baseball in the spring.

If you want to be a member of both clubs or simply attend both clubs meetings, your eventually going to miss something. I'll be honest I switched clubs because this board is more active and the events I have been to I had more fun at.

I am not the most open person at these functions and at a SLASH event me and the g/f feel included sometimes. If I had the time we would be more involved. If SEASL members wanted to go to inland they could have gone last weekend. I hate this banter and this is my first stab at hashing out the club separation.

I might be putting my foot in my mouth later but I doubt it.

Geeeez!!!!!

It would make sense to have it together for a vendor to maximize her time and effort. Even if its later in the year. Thats just the right and polite thing to do based on my years in sales.

The attitudes of the board members of SLASH drove me away from the club last time this came up. Your post above told me I made the right decision.

I like the membership and community as a whole, but just cant be a member until the attitudes of individuals change.

Just me 2 cents

Just for the record I was not suggesting we have a joint meeting. I was just trying to make this available to everyone for the sake of Joy especially since the people who originally talked to her about it will most likely not be able to attend on the 24th.

Ditto for all of the above. Nicely put Clark.

Lisa...it is available and open to everyone that chooses to attend or did I miss something? Inland trips are so easy to schedule it can be postponed, it isn't like there will never be another Inland trip.

Clark....the original post on this thread asked what people wanted to do as it was obvious there was a scheduling conflict. it wasn't a my way or the highway thing, it was asked and people responded. A decision was made based on that input. They are seperate clubs with the same membership, no one is being excluded.

Why does this have to be so dramatic?

I know that many of our members are a member of both clubs and I don't want to have to make anyone choose between clubs. On the other hand, I have to think about SLASH and do what I consider to be best for our club regardless of what another club may be doing on that day.

Opinions from members please.

Now I know why it has to be so dramatic...you wish it to be that way Clark, the post above was sincere and asking for direction from the membership of this club. If you choose to not be a member of this club then why are you here wanting to start trouble?

Why am I here? Nice attitude. Man, I can't wait to hand over more money to you guys LOL.

If the thread had stayed on target and not progressed to the usual "us vs. them" theme that is seems to do, then I wouldnt have posted

But as a paid member still (check the records) of SLASH I have every right to voice my opinion.

I feel the officers of SLASH have a huge chip on their shoulders. Thats it. They cant handle being critizied or having their decisions questioned. Gred didnt need to post the original post I quoted as it was inflamatory and rude IMO.

If you wanted only SLASH members, why wasnt this posted on the SLASH webiste. Then you wouldnt have had to listen to posts from us "trouble makers"

I blame it on Trottman, it was going well until he posted

boo trottman

hooray beer

red stripe

jk

lighten up everyone...if you don't think you're being ridiculous, go to your significant other, tell them that you're having an e-fight on an aquarium chat board with other "fish people" and arrive at one of 2 options

1. she supports you, meaning:
a. you aren't ridiculous
OR
b. she is ridiculous

2. you get a divorce because you are ridiculous

My point here is you did not offer anything constructive and you should have as a paid member. Griping is not constructive and Lisa already said that she wasn't trying to make it a joint meeting.

Sorry if you don't like my attitude here but the griping and whining are just silly. I do not represent the board of any club but it sickens me to see these threads go downhill because someone gets their feelings hurt because they can't get past the fact that there are two clubs here. Greg didn't have to ask us for direction, he did it because it is the right thing to do for everyone involved.

Hey now !

We all don't have chips on our shoulder.

I want democracy and diplomacy.

With everyone's input we will have a resolution.
I do not think we waited long enough for all the voices to be heard.

Clark - abrasive or not, is correct.

I completely agree with that Jack. All Greg needed to say was "Thanks for the input everyone. Meeting is scheduled for XXXX" instead of stomping his foot to prove there are two clubs once again for effect.

By the time I read the thread my opinion wasnt needed. Seemed like decision was made.

BTW my thoughts were to have it in Feb based on Gregs original post, but I look at things through the vendor's eyes and to maximize their time I would try for a time when everyone can attend.

Again, instead of it coming to this and taking a firm stand, it would have been a great way to get more members into SLASH. Instead, the wall gets built a bit higher and thicker.

Very interesting indeed! I've had done some research on these Solaris lighting fixture's. I have seen one in a LFS as well. I'd like to have the chance to hear what the manufacture has to present us with. I do know that they are quite expensive and would like to know more about what they can do, and what makes them so costly. As for your question Capncapo, my opinion as a member of both clubs would be to have it on the date you was asking for. As par for the coarse, I always seem to miss most of the meetings, But I have been getting better at making them and I will attend this one too.

StupidsReef.

Not trying to bust your chops here Clark just making a point. The spirit was there from the initial post which is why it was asked instead of directed. If everyone doesn't know Capo is abrasive at times and thinks of this club first and foremost they don't know Greg. The way I read it was it was not an us versus them thing but something that needed to be discussed so as not to prevent any member from attending the PFO meeting. I have yet to see a post on the seasl forum asking if people want to postpone the Inland meet?

Why is that?
