Yesterday I aquired a LTA and it is not doing good at all from what I can tell... VERY bleached but still has purple tips..and wont attach to anything...sand or rock...the major thing I see wrong is that it seems that the mouth is open....should I just cut the loss now or try to nurse?

No it dosnt seem to be attaching itself and I tried a piece of silverside yesterday and it didn't take it....I will try another small piece today...The mouth seems to be open but it hasn't started to melt....yet...I am just hoping I can save it....
btw...all my intakes are covered so I am not worried about anything there...

ok..since yesterday I managed to keep hom from "rolling around" by digging a small hole and placing his foot in it and then placing some LR rubble around him so he cant tumble around...I am going to try to feed again tonight to see if he will eat a piece of silverside or I might try target feeding some frozen/thawed food...
You know what. I would just leave it for a few days and let it settle in. The more you try to feed it the more you are going to stress it out. If it does not stay attached with the rubble. Move the rubble and dig the hole as deep as you can stick its foot in and the bury it with sand. Try to get it where there is flow but not so much that it is swaying hard back and forth. Both of mine do best with very little flow. And tend to get a little ticked if i move a power head towards there direction
See if it stays where it is for a day or to and then try 1/4 inch pieces of silversides and see if it eats it.Then if it takes it do this every day untill you start to see a colour change.
It will be fine i am sure but it is stressed as it is and adding anymore to it will make it worse. Just let it be and then see what happens

It does open up and seems to be moving its tenticles but they are still very small and stubby. I have a feeling it is a different type of anem. from what I was told it was. It has real stubby tenticals (may be because its bleached and recovering) and they have little purple tips...it I would say it kinda looks like a smaller version of my sabae/condy (never got a 100% ID on that one)....I was hoping it was a LTA and my pair of clowns would host..but no luck yet.

I'd leave it alone until it has been attached for a couple days.
Heavily bleached, but they can heal.
And if it does, you better start thinking about a bigger tank!
They get big dude, mine are over 20" diameter.
I just had to get a 180 for mine(had to quit skydiving myself to keep up with the reef. One expensive hobby is enough for me!)
