Won't fighting occur in the sump just as easily as in the display?

I would say yes, but itââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢s only a temp home... In a few wks they would all be added to the display at once and everything "might" work out for the best... Just a guess on my part...

That's some list...I am very interested in how some of them get along...why put them in the sump one at a time and then introduce into display? Won't fighting occur in the sump just as easily as in the display?

They are all separated in areas of the sumps. I used the plastic egg-crate to separate them. But, I did put the yellow and puple together to see how they would do together becuase they would problably fight out of most of the tangs. Well, they are doing great so far, they swim together.

You can have 11 tangs in a very large tank. One, make the most dominate aggresive ones the meduim or smaller size. Second, make the passive tangs the larger ones. Third, and most important, add them all at the same time in the main display. Fourth, feed them ALOT, this will help reduce aggression.

Now, I did not post this to start a tang bashing thread, or to cause any debate. This is all based off my experience and extensive research on this forum. Hence why there is no Clown tang in the picture. Anyway, please feel free to ask questions, but please lets not start a defessive agrument over this highly debatable topic. Thanks!

Or you did that :) LOL I didn't even think about that...

Great tank and set up so far. I like your fish list. I am setting up a tank of similiar size and am looking forward to seeing how your tank inhabitants all get along.

Oh trust me. I don't see anything wrong with 11, or even 20, tangs in that tank. :D And I completely believe you can do it. Especially taking the care and forethought that you are taking. I think it will be great.

I'm just in aww that you will have so many show species in one tank. I cant wait to see it.

Interesting that you put the purple and the yellow together. My purple is the second most agressive fish in the tank and doesn't take lip from anyone.

I have 11 tangs in mine and they are fine. There is an occassional tiff but really nothing serious. I had to get rid of one because there was a problem between the two yellow eye koles but I was able to rescue the weaker one and pass him along to another reefer.

I am interested in naso and sohal tangs but have been hesitant to add them.

i have a Kole tang, naso, and sailfin, and rabbitfish all very peacefully getting along.

i have a clown tang in another tank that i bought on a whim and then by the time i was ready to take it out of QT i had read about it's aggressive nature and so now it is a permanent resident of the QT tank. i love the way it looks but am afraid to put it into the main display. it is not afraid of me. i put my hand in the tank to put food on the feeding clip and it is right there everytime, eating before i am done.

I agree with this, I have 17 tangs total right now in my 300 (they are all smaller) They are great together and pose no problems with any of the other 30 fish in the tank, including my hefrichis and my mated pipefish. They all get along great and will be moving to my new tank (the 800) soon. I plan to add several more when I move them to the new tank. My current tang stock list is:

5 blues
1 yellow belly blue
2 yellows
1 black
1 "koi" tang
1 purple
1 tenneti
1 jardini
1 dussemeri
1 chevron
1 tomini

If done right they are great together every one of my tangs will eat from my hand.
1 blonde naso

I have no idea what a tenneti, dussemeri, or a tomini tangs are? Do you have links to pictures of these types by any chance? And how did you score a black tang??

Thanks!!

Here is the dussumier tang (I spelled it wrong at first) Here

The tenneti tang (in german?):D here

The tenneti tang here

The "koi" tang here at the bottom of the page

I have a black tang "connection" :D Let me know when you want one...

Cool. That is what I thought, I haven't learned all the names yet to some of the tangs. Like the Dussumier I only know as a eye stripe. Anyway, thanks for the links.

I would be really interested in finding a Black Tang and a Dussumier Tang. So, if you have a good connection with a supplier then I would greatly appreciate a little help!!!!! :D

I could get an eye stripe almost anytime, the blacks I can get on a regular basis (once a month). shoot me a pm with some contact info and I'll get you set up..do you know what a choati wrasse is?Thats the coolest fish ever...

That is the coolest tank ever. I love your list of tangs, and your fish room is well designed. I like your aquascaping because it really shows how deep your tank is and the tangs wont be swimming back and forth in front of a rock wall, but around and behind your rocks. The rocks placed like you have them in the foreground and back ground is really cool. Do you think you could show us a complete list of all the fish you plan to add, and maybe some inverts too?(exclude cleaning crew of course) Thanks!
