gone solar

i dont have a humidity/salt issue, because there is almost no heat to cause lots of evaporation.

found these three sps - just waiting for a mille now. wanted to post day one pics so i can document how they do under the sun :)

ok, since i have a few sps again, i thought i would start the comparison pics weekly (for now)

all of these were added the same day except the bnest. it was in the tank about a week before i started taking pics. i think the first pics were taken on a cloudy day, so the color differences may not be as drastic as the photos show, but there has been some change already :)

thanks david, i use superglue gel to attach everything. i prefer loctite - and get the 10 gram tubes because the opening on the tip is more generous.

thanks poseidon, it has started to grow a bit huh? i didnt really notice until i put the pics side by side.

getting a couple of milles today, cant wait! :)

Looking good,,I was gonna grab the other 2" millie but someone beat me to it.. maybe we can trade frags once yours settles in

this weeks pics. notice how difficult it is to take consistent pics with a sunlit tank...

the last couple of days were very sunny in the middle of the day, i think the birdsnest and the new mille colony were a little overwhelmed - notice the buned tips on the mille and the faded color on the bnest. hopefully they will be ok.

5/28 - lost a couple of branches the second day and the tips burned (i think because of the change in light) - hopefully it will recover

here is what the tank looks like when the sun is directly overhead - those beams move across the tank with the sun

thanks dude

poseidon - the sunbeam effect is only apparent for about an hour a day, looks really cool in person. as far as the sun burning the corals, it hasnt happened with corals that have been in the tank for a while - since they have had a chance to adjust with the increasing light gradually since the winter. it is just those two corals that have only been in the tank for a couple of weeks. i should have put them on the bottom and gradually moved them up to let them acclimate to the light more slowly.
