I have had my 12 gallon Aqua Pod set up for about two weeks. Last weekend I had my first sign of algae growing. It has grown pretty rapidly since. I have 20lbs of sand and 15lbs of cured live rock in it from the start.

When am I ready for a cleaning crew?
What should I start with?

Yeah what are they? If everything is 0 then good to add them now. Get some hermits, both blue leg and red leg are fine. Some Nassarius Snails would be good too. I can list what I have in my 12g to help give an idea. Have 8 blue leg hermit, 2 red leg hermits, 6 margarita snails(help clean algae good), 6 nassarius snails, and 1 emerald crab. Good Luck with the tank!:D

Four cerith, one small nassarius, one SMALL blue leg hermit (LOL).....

and LOTS of FREE pods and brisleworms!!

Wait on the nassarius until after you add fish... and wait as long as you can stand before you add the fish.

Just tested the water....here are the results

Ammonia 0
Nitrate 10
Nitrite 0
Alkalinity 300
pH level 8.4

In my 12 I keep:
1 astria snail
1 persian conch
1 tongan nassarius
2 small hermits
3 Pacific nerites
and for fun...2 sexy shrimp
1 porcelain crab
I suggest you do a 2 gallon water change every week.
