Just noticed them early in the meeting tonight, so we've been stalking them since:). Not likely to even try to raise these this time around, but may give it a shot once I'm settled in.

This is my favorite.

Here is a video. I couldn't get much on the eggs, but some good behavior (though 'egged' on -pun intended:D).

be sure to turn the pumps off for about an hour after lights off every night for the upcoming days. when they hatch its really cool to shine a flashlight into the tank and watch the babies flock to the light. at least the corals will have a good meal this week :) good luck with the future lays!<~~~steve

Congrats Gary!

I can bring some rotifer starter-culture to the swap for you if you like, although I'm sure you have enough going on over there to more than keep you busy :) I'm in one of those rare times now where I have too much, so it's no trouble. It's great to see the fish with their anemone engaging in natural behaviors; a nice reward for your efforts!

Matt

Still there and you can make the eyes out a lot better today. I think tonight might be the night:). If they were conceived to Barry White (he seems to be the clownfish singer of love;)), maybe playing some funk will get the babies to groove out;).

Matt,

I think I'll pass on the rotifers for righ tnow, but I will definitely be contacting you sometime in the near future about this. I've been looking into trying to raise something and now I have a breeding pair, so I've got no excuse. I read Clonwfishes a while back, but I figure you can help me make the process easier through pratical experience (this is necessary, that isn't quite as necessary, etc.). This is exciting. Now I have no excuse (Jenn is in for another setup, huh;))?

You know what, Matt. If you don't mind, I'll go ahead and take a rotifer starter. I doubt any will survive this go round, but I can give it a shot (add a little more stress to my life;)) and see what happens.

I knew you'd cave :D I'll bring you some.

From the pictures I'd say you're looking at a hatch sometime late in the week--a few days more at least since they have so much yolk left.

Matt

Cool. We thought we noticed better defined eyes today:). if they waited until Jenn got back, she'd be ecstatic (she comes back Friday night... gonna be a long week;)).

Sorry. My 3:30 morning zapped me. I'll get some up tonight of last nights shots and tonights shots;). I thought I was getting better at the pics, but last night wasn't as easy to get a decent shot...

Okay, to follow through with the day by day, I have seom from last night and some from tonight (easier to take at night because the anemone usually curls away from them).

Tonights. The eyes are well formed now, as you can see. The eye shine reminded me of the night dive back in March:).

Maybe tomorrow night will be the night?

I've got some from Friday night and last night, but haven;t formatted them yet... Jenn just left, so I haven't had a chance to do anything reef related since the swap (needed some quality time).

I think tonight is the night, though (thought that last night too...). Matt gave me a roti starter culture, so I've got something to start with. We'll see how it pans out...

Continuing the day by day... Some shots are definitely better than others, but hopefully you get the idea. It is happening tonight:). I hit the area with a flashlight and saw one swim around (disappeared by the time I had everything together...). I pulled a white cottage cheese lid ;) as a backdrop for the flashlight because it was reflecting off the top of the water and back onto the rocks. None came by alive, but I saw one little baby floating on the surface, so it is happening... Gotta go check back in with them and see if any more have hatched. Gonna be another late night...

OH so cool! You are a glutton for punishment! But I also know you would pick every live pod out of a filter pad before you would toss it out to die. You just mentioned you and Jen were thinking about kids in the future. Hopefully you will have 50+ at once! Congrats!!
