Got my Ati Results back, please help.

Here is my tank water results:

They recommend Iod which I assume is iodine
Also recommend Molybdän supplement which I dont know what that is.

On my Ro/DI system they recoomend me changing my DI resin but it looks fine so I am confused on that.

On my RO Water they showed Silicon so is it my filters that are bad? Sediment? Carbon? DI Resin? Membrane?
 
Molybdän is molybdenum, a metal. I wouldn't bother with a supplement. It's not clear that the tests are all that accurate at such low levels. Iodine isn't required by animals that we tend to keep, but adding a bit should be safe enough.

Silicon can make it past RO/DI in the form of silicate. If the tank has a significant problem, then a "silica buster" cartridge might work. They are designed to trap silicate better. The most likely source is the water. Have you tried a silicate test on the tap water?

Silica buster is a special DI resin that is supposed to work better to trap silicate. You can use it in place of DI, or in line with your current DI. I'd probably put it after the regular DI if it's more expensive. Generally, the effectiveness should be the same, I think, but you could ask the manufacturer.
 
i will just add that I noticed zink shows high. I used the triton test and my zink was high. but my friend who is a neighbor did not test high for zink... was told to look for hose clamps that are rusting as zink is sometimes used as coating. BINGO... found it in the sump and took it out. follow up tests showed zink at normal levels.
 
For iodine. Their test show it low a lot of times.
You can use iodide if you want to boost it. I think seachem makes a reef additive. Its the non toxic version of iodine.
 
Anything metal in the tank could be leaching some zinc at that level. I would check everything. Sometimes, coatings crack and metal gets exposed when it shouldn't be. Magnets definitely can have that problem.
 
[MENTION=378932]coralcruze2020[/MENTION] that is interesting. It don't look like mine is doing that. However, I may go the old suction cup route to perhaps see what happens. You think the ones that hold heaters the plastic ones will work for the Neptune Apex Sensors to mount them?
 
If the sensors are not heavier than the heater, the plastic cups might work well enough. Hangers are more secure, IMO. I made some from acrylic for a tank once. They were ugly but functional. Tap Plastics to the rescue.
 
oh you may also want to use some clear silicone around the bottom edge. if the magnet will be submerged it will last longer this way.
 
I took the clip of the magnet and glue it to suction cups, I will do another test in April to see results.

What test kit do you use for po4, & how did your ICP result compare ?
