grafting BTA's

Hey there,

has anyone heard or had any luck grafting bubble tip nems? Have a few different morphs and was thinking of experimenting on them. For starters divide a green and rose , was thinking superglue the two halves together, but dont think superglue would hold. Another idea is to use a couple rubberbands to hold them together. Third idea is to sew them together with fishing line, staying away from the foot..
whatcha think, can it happen?

i wouldnt imagine it would work. then again, they are on the simplistic side and wont sting each other. if you do try this rubber bands would be a bad idea. fishing line might work as long as you went shallow and were careful. there would be a chance of them ripping through... i wouldnt buy btas for this id only use some clones that you dont care about

It is very unlikely for this to work. If you cut them into left and right halves, the 2 parts will not need eachother and so will just grow into 2 anemones. Not real sure what will happen with a top and bottom. Probably 2 dead parts.

Lol, gary you didn't know you can sew them together with silicone, it shares similar charateristics to jelly and therefore is capable of glueing them together, then they will not try to become seperate animals. In fact they will only split the other way so new clones will always be half of each nem, its crazy Ive done it like 10 times, the pics got lost though..... mmmmm weird.

Clones have feelings too!

Personally I'd try duct tape, maybe a little chewing gum.. it fixes everything in the movies!

jon, sometimes mushrooms are attached to rock with crazy glue and then the mushroom attaches itself and grows on the rock. However, grafting by sewing different anemones together--I doubt that's been done.

Yes, it is true that some people have successfully joined two halves or corallimorphs together. Interesting, but I'm still trying to figure out the benefit. I don't think the Frankenstein mushrooms look nicer than the two mushrooms they started with.

I have no idea if you could do the same with BTA's. Question is: why would you want to?

Sorry the color is off, when it was healing it seemed to shift the colors in the background of the tank too, was really weird. The RBTA was also larger so the tentacles were larger, but it healed up fine and is doing great. Was hard to find that picture it was embedded deep in my files.

wow, that is awesome...Got it, know how to do it now, need a pair of scissors and elmer's glue, cant wait to see the pics of when it splits the other way.
wonder what it would look like if i took two clones of the same morph and grafted them??
got some time this weekend and an almost empty frag tank will take some pics
