It was good to see everyone .Wish i could have bought from you all ,there wasn't anything I seen that I didn't want.
but I would like to thank the people I did buy from .the corals are beautiful..and most of all my Clove/Glove Polyp I bought from Chris ..for me it was the best find and unblievable price ,Thank you so much..they are open under the leds and glowing pink.simply beautiful !!
Then the 2 frags I won are sweet.. red sea pompoms are pulsating..and the tyree toad stool.is happy , happy happy open fully.. right now .{never seen toad stool get so happy so fast }.
all in all was great time .great food .great people..great time...

Well, not to be a downer but I was a little disappointed! The prices were very close to retail. I felt like I was having to pay for all of those nice setups. Now don't get me wrong, there were a few there that were reasonable but not what I expected from a swap. Another thing that I was hugely disappointed with was the (MUST BE PRESENT) for the raffle. Really? I drove an hour and 15 minutes to get this place and I have to be present? Unfortunately, I had somewhere to be at 4:30. I really thought that sucked and what a waste. I was willing to spend the money on the raffle but I didn't. How many people did the same thing? You're just losing money. Any way, on a good note! I did get a few frags and very excited to see how they turn out.
 
The raffle was a waste of my money, I should have spent that money on corals instead of throwing it down the drain on raffle tickets. When you have some rich jack holes come and buy 400 dollars worth of blue tickets, and winning everything, it takes the fun and the fairness completely out of a raffle.

I decided to spend my money on coral rather than the raffle. Didn't see anything I had to have anyway.

I too was disappointed by the swap. The layout was awful... the narrow path into the back section of tables was constantly crowded with people staring at the clownfish. Would have also liked to see more SPS available.... seemed like everyone was pushing acans. Beefy had some great deals though!!!
 
lesson learned, why waste time waiting on the raffle and money on the tickets when you can go, get some nice corals, and leave. I would have loved to pick up a strawberry shortcake, and a toadstool, but ran out of money.
 
That would have definately kept things fair. I thought I had a decent shot at getting something with 70 dollars worth of tickets, then I look over and this guy next to me has 4 bags full of blue stubs. (each bag costs 100 dollars)
 
Great job CMAS. You just took down the discussion thread on your forum? I'm sorry you don't like our opinion and call it "silly" but maybe you should consider it before you flippantly dismiss it.
 
And... now you locked the thread and deleted my and others comments. Great job reminding me why I'm not a paying member any more.
 
No, he locked it and it is now in the "Members Only" section. He also deleted all the negative public comments.
 
Supposedly they moved it to the member only section. Which I linked my account but still can not access this portion of the site.

I am wondering why I just wasted $30 on a 2 year membership right now.

I had a feeling my original comment would come off bad. It was in no way meant to be bad. I was trying to aware the board members that the actions they are taking are not looking good for the club.

my first post in that thread:
Being my first frag swap and a new member I don't want to cross any lines with this but one thing did stick out to me. I am in no way trying to take away from anyone or make any assumptions. Seemed like everyone was a stand up person who was working the event/volunteering.

I have never been to a club event/meeting/show of any sort that allowed volunteers/workers to take part in any form of raffle/giveaways. I know Dave was very gracious with purchasing $300 worth of raffle tickets and I think that will really help the club. However something about the person calling out the winning raffle tickets numbers along with taking home 2 of the big ticket items just did not sit well with me and I don't know if it gave a bad impression of the club to anyone. It is more of an image concern for the club in my eyes.

Example: A dealership is offering raffle prizes to anyone who tests drives a new car on XX/XX/XXXX. You go and test drive a car and end up purchasing it. You stick around for the raffle and salesman who work for the company walked away with raffle prizes.

A club like this should be ran like a business and want to have an image to uphold.

Again I am not upset or jealous or any of that and I hope I don't come off as rude. I am a nice guy and feel as if I am giving the "outsiders" opinion.

Wow, that is pretty disappointing. Why didn't he just go buy the stuff for $400.00? and allow the people who do not have $400.00 to win some pretty decent prizes.

There are some hiccups. Some that can be fixed and some that they do not have any control over (ie: prices of corals). But hopefully, they take some of our suggestions and consider them.

As far as the person that bought the $400.00 worth of tickets...that just tells you a little about his character. :( You can't fix inconsiderate.

BTW: It was great seeing some of the old faces again. :)
 
I've been to a few of them now, but the last one I went to was a few years ago. I remember it being a great time! I think the real problem here is jcarlisle not taking the comments seriously. His reply was "i think what you are saying is silly." For the sake of those who can't read that thread now, the guy that bought $300 worth of tickets won a mountain of stuff, including a Nuvo and a biocube, two big powerheads and a bunch of additives. He posted a pic. When we voiced our opinion on forums.cmas.net, jcarlisle flippantly dismissed our comments, deleted most of them and locked the thread.
