I just received my nem via overnight mail from Live Aquaria. First it's mouth was wide open and now it looks like it is sagging. Is my nem dying?

It may just be extracting waste. Give it a few hours to a day to see if it bubbles up again. If it's not attaching to a rock then it may be in jeopardy, but most likely it's just moving around and trying to find a spot to live in. Keep monitoring your water parameters, especially ammonia. If something spikes then you may want to take it out of your tank to prevent a crash.

It could take a few weeks for it to acclimate to your tank. A few days it should be looking much better. BTA's will scare you thinking they are dying when all they are doing is taking a dump :D

It should be alright in a few days or so.
if not there is a slight chance it could be sick.
my one first one did this before it died
not to scare you though.

Hodge, the only reason that I didn't ask that is by looking at the rock it's not a "new" tank. Appears to have a few months on it anyway. In most cases a tank needs to be around 6 months or older to properly support a bta. Also lighting plays a huge role in their health.

Maybe we should make a list of standard questions that we could copy and paste for new comers to read?

the rock can easily have come from someone established tank. i just figured since we dont really know the whole story telling him its going to be okay is kind of strange to me. the rock could have came from someone else tank he could have just set it up a week ago and he could be having really rough parameters its all possibilities i think we should eliminate those before giving him answers like that.

just my opinion.
