Green carpet day 7

Looks way different tonight. Might of got lucky

Wessside!!!! I picked up a purple gig yesterday in very bad condition. If it makes it I'll be shocked. If it does call me Dr. Dre or Snoop Lion. I'll start a thread soon.

The only reason I mention it is because the one I have was clearly cut. The LFS said it came from a reputable exporter, so it may be that the cut gigs are spreading. Mine looks exactly as yours does in the photo, where it almost has a clover-like shape, ending where the cut was. What you need to look for is scar tissue. It'll be a vertical line that travels up the column, over the oral disk, ending at the mouth. I don't think the one I have will survive because the mouth isn't fully healed.

Unfortunately, if yours was cut, then Cipro may not help. Cipro seems to work for bacterial infections that I believe causes the gig to deflate. It can't do anything to help mend a cut gig though. I am treating mine with Cipro and elevated iodine levels in the QT, even though it hasn't deflated, but I know full well that its chances are survival are minimal. Again, I'll start a thread soon.

i forgot to mention... sick gigs have their ups and downs. Some days they look really good, then the next day, or hour, look terrible. Despite what you see, I would keep your gig in QT for at least two weeks, assuming you can keep the water parameters up.

If you can, can you provide photos of the mouth? I want to know if the siphonoglyphs are exposed or if the mouth is tight.

Looking much better Scott. It appears he is responding well to the antibiotic treatments. At the end of a full 5-7 days I'm sure he will be good to go. Did he move up on the rock on his own? If so, that is another good sign.

Derrick, looking forward to your thread and you representin' the West LOL!

Its still doing good the rock was the one in the dt. Still has not deflated looks a little bigger today. Cant see the mouth so cant get a pic
Im off to the hospital to see my new grand daughter so ill try and get a pic later

24/7 light may not be good for fish, anemone or coral. Once my controller malfunction, the light stay on 23/7. My fish stressed, my coral bleached and anemone shrink and unhappy. Fortunately they recovered when I fix the problem. Animals are adapted to and need some darkness. I have used 6 hrs of darkness for my animals and baby clowns with no problem.

I used 18 hrs light because I work long hours and need to feed the baby clowns before I leave and after I return. Leave them enough hours to eat.

That is just while in qt. when in dt only 12 hours on and 12 off --- ill try shuting it off in qt also. Just put a timer on it

I had 12 on and 12 off for my Gig in QT... I agree with Minh, animals do need some darkness as that is how it occurs in nature. Just my thoughts.

I put it in last night did good waiting for lights to come on now but still looks good did not shrink down. But qt is still ready if needed

I cant get a good pic yet where its at the mouth and foot are hidden first lights on now looks good did not deflate but maybe 5% but with light on stated to fill right up. One day at a time
