Green carpet day 7

I cant get a good pic yet where its at the mouth and foot are hidden first lights on now looks good did not deflate but maybe 5% but with light on stated to fill right up. One day at a time

Good to hear, and that is the best approach.. one day at a time.. Now that our purple has been in our care for three months, and the green is about half of that.. I'm starting to breath a cautious sigh of relief...

Lol. When did u try to feed yours. I am waiting but not sure how long

The purple I waited a little longer 1-2 weeks into the DT, while the green I knew was much healthier and he has been getting fed daily since being in the DT... Needless to say, feeding a gig everyday, he has now more than doubled in size.

Ok. Ill try in a week. I know they can live off the light but i like when they eat i give my roses shrimp and salmon just alternate every couple days

Do you feed raw or cooked shrimp? I assume the former, but I've got bags of frozen cooked.

raw.. I generally go to the fish market, get a scallop, shrimp, salmon, etc chop it up, put it in a bag and soak the food in selcon then freeze. Whenever I need to feed I take out a chunk, thaw it, and feed.

well still looking good so far still cant see its mouth but has not deflated and color still loooks good

Was looking ok but then started to deflate and then detached itself ----! So wasted no time put in qt. with meds ill get pics tomorrow. Have to get ready for work

Definitely post photos. Sounds like it may be too late, but let's see if we can save it. A few things to note:

1. Don't feed it at all
2. Keep it in QT for at least a week, especially since yours is deflating
3. Make sure you keep up with water changes

A few questions:
1. Do you have any other gigs or other nems in your DT?
2. Is it possible to keep your gig in QT for two weeks? The reason I ask I because I suspect that there may be something in your DT that is also making your gig sick.

I also think these cut gigs don't die from the cuts themselves, at least not the ones we're getting. The few cut ones I've seen appear to be healing. The ones that were cut and were in bad condition most likely died at the exporter or wholesaler. I think the added stress of transporting them and acclimation is what takes its toll. It's like AIDS -- AIDS doesn't actually kill, what is brought on as a result is what kills. In many cases, it's infections such as pneumonia. This is where Cipro comes in, but as with all antibiotics it needs to be taken for the complete cycle, not just until the symptoms disappear.

D-nak no other gigs but do have a hadons but it looks real good. I am going to keep it in qt till fully recovered i thought it was. But i guess i was wrong. I will keep in there for as long as it takes ill get a pic tomorrow. Hope it makes it

Forgot. I have a pair of clowns that would not leave it alone thought i would lose my hand when i got it out of the tank

Hope this guy pulls through Scott. Really surprised to hear the gig was cut. I guess that is a lesson for all of us, no matter how reputable the seller, to make sure we check before buying.

Definitely. I don't blame this on the LFS. Mine didn't know they were doing this, so they didn't know to look for it.

I have a feeling the wholesaler is a large one that a lot of the LFS use, so we will continue to see these cut gigs.

i remember when i fist got this guy someone said it looked like it was cut but i could not see it today is when i finally saw it and got in right in to the qt cant wait to get home and see how it looks
will get a pic in the morning and a update
thanks for all the help maybe one day we wont have to worry about this problem
