Greetings from Barbados

So I am sitting on the patio in front of my private 28 foot swimming pool, overlooking the blue waters of Barbados. I finally tied the knot last Saturday, and I am on my honeymoon until next Monday. Just thought I would let everyone know in case anyone was looking for me hehe :beachbum:

We went swimming with sea turtles and saw two ship wrecks yesterday, and this morning we went on a submarine down to the reef. It was not nearly as impressive as our tanks at home haha, but saw some some cool stuff. I will post some pictures when I get back.

Hope the weather in Pittsburgh is tolerable :fish1: :fish1: :fish1: :fish1:

Later!

congrats Jared,

the lw temp this mornin was like 38 so ur weather is a little better than ours haha

It was an enjoyable trip...until I got home and discovered my tank had been wiped out. The return pump failed at some point during my trip, and the guy that was coming by to top off and feed wouldn't have known there was a problem. It looks like about 90% of corals, fish, and inverts were killed. I will survey what's left when I get home today. Pretty crappy thing to come home to...

Yep I can relate- sorry for your losses. Cloaker did his best to save mine 2 summers ago- lost power to the tank and I loss about 1/2 the tank before he got there the next day to check up on things. I am overgrown currently and will be moving into new tanks - free frags when your up and running again.

Jared,

So sorry to see that happened. If you need to house anything thats left until yu get things situated, let me know

Jared, next time you leave for any length of time let me know and I can stop by a day or two to check on things. I have a very reliable fish feeder when I am away, but I try to get someone to stop by at least once to check up on things.

Or buy a RK3 with internet support. Of course, now we're talking about a $700 fix, but then again, with everything we have in these things, I guess maybe that isn't so crazy.

In any case, sorry about your tank, I've been there and done that, and I still see pics of that tank before that fateful morning in May 2009 and feel sick thinking about the what if's. Let me know if you ever want something from my tank that either I got from you or you got from me in the past. I know there's a lot that's gone at least one direction or the other. You're welcome to stop up and see what you had, and I'm sure I can help get you back up and running if that's what you want to do.

Jared,

Looks like some good news this morning. the vhos were only on for a bout 10 minutes and one of your frags has started to open. cant get the greatest look at it but it is one of the discs that were covered and the zoas are pink. The magician looking ones have 2 -3 open and the other ones are neither opening or melting so that is still a good sign. Maybe in 6 months when you decide on what to do we can just peel them off the wall and frag rack. haha. so not a total loss for you yet !!! it looks like my daily cleanings of the frag with some extra flow is helping shed that nasty buildup

Bob,

I owe you big time man... you definitely have some free frags coming your way when I get back up and running. More great news... after I left your place on Saturday, and after apparently rubbing my eye after having my hands in that nasty water... I got a terrible eye infection that landed me in the emergency at midnight on Saturday. This thing was no joke... eye was swollen shut and it hurt like crazy. It's much better now and I am back at work today.

Lesson learned... Wash your hands or use gloves when messing with dirty water.

This fish tank is going to be the end of me... haha

Glad things are starting to return to "normal" for you man. My mom is convinced that all my fragging of leathers and zoas without gloves is the reason my gallbladder went bad on me at such an early age. :)

My offer is good anytime, if you want frags of stuff in my tank, just stop by and I'll get you a lot of the stuff back that I have.
