griss' Tank Upgrade Thread

10 lbs KP premium live rock arriving tomorrow. Since I already have a base structure, I asked Philipp for medium (6-8") rocks and he said he would do his best to do so. If I feel I still need more rock, I'm going to get some Gulf rock for biodiversity.

My buddy Andy said he has some old Fiji and Tonga live rock in his tank and he could give me some of that as well.

A box was waiting when I got home. Let’s open it. Insulated box, 2 heat packs and triple bagged.

KP Aquatics does it again! The rock looks fantastic. So far I’ve found a small brittle star and 2 pistol shrimp. Good coralline coverage. Some sponges. Very little macro.

There are a couple Medusa worms in the box I’m debating if I want to introduce them to the tank.

the rock smells very fresh. I decided with my water volume and the small amount of rock, straight into the tank. I’ll monitor ammonia, nitrite and nitrate but, with the addition of MB7, I think it will be okay.

I’ll have some major rock rearranging to do that I might not get to until Friday when I have the day off after some morning appointments.

Or, for me, frustrating to arrange it :ROFLMAO:
George, don't stress over it. Just have fun moving pieces around. When you see something you like, keep that part and keep playing with the other pieces.
This has been a long term build so don't rush the aquascape because you are going to look at it a long time. They are not fun to redo once coral are in if you aren't satisfied.

I just don't have an artistic bone in my body. I am also very type-a. So, stuff like aquascaping has always been challenging for me. I need to go back to the 80s/early 90s when we always went for the rock wall look :ROFLMAO:
