Okay, I did my homework and this is what I am able to get the club.

Enaly Ozone Generator
Model OZX-300U
Link to Specifications
This is the same brand of generator that Eric Borneman is using, and the one he spoke about at the recent SEABAY meeting.

Milwaukee ORP Controller
Model SMS510
Link to Specifications

Air Dryer - 500 gram
Model RS30040
This unit holds 500g of silica beads. The beads can be baked to recharge them.

Total Price $159.79 (price includes shipping)
We need a minimum or 10 orders to get this pricing.

All you need to add is carbon, and ozone safe tubing (some tubing comes with the Enaly generator). You should run carbon on top of the air vent hole, and also on the output from the skimmer or ozone reactor.

To give you some idea of the value in this deal. The cheapest (shipped) I could find the generator was $68.50 on eBay. The air dryer was $29.99+ shipping, and the Milwaukee controller was $119.99+ shipping (prices quoted from Custom Aquatic).
Retail Price $218.48 + some shipping
Our Price $159.79 + nothing
Savings $58.69 +
I figure the savings would be approx $75 total when you add UPS ground shipping from L.A.

The cutoff for this group deal is Friday, August 19 at Midnight PST. Local only, I don't want to do any shipping.

DO NOT PM ME! Please send me an e-mail directly at dmdaniels67@comcast.net
I'll accept cash/check via snail mail, or you can Paypal me. The Paypal price is $165 to cover my fees.

Minh-

Here are a few threads is thread regarding ozone Link
Link 2

You should ask in Eric's forum (The Coral Forum) regarding his use and why.

Ozone should be added slowly due to the increase in water clarity and rising ORP. You don't want to alter the water chemistry too quickly. I've also heard of bleaching incidents due to the higher light penetration as the water clarity begins improving. I plan on ramping my use up over a 1-2 month period.

Minh, ozone is an oxidier and acts a lot like permanganate... Typically what it is going to do is attack alkene and alkanes (that is double and triple bonded carbons). It effectivly reduecs these into ketones and aldehydes and carboxylic acids. That being said...as to what it does for you in an aquarium is kind of unknow. This is mostly due to the lack of information available as to what organics are actually present in our pieces of the reef. A lot of alkenes and alkanes can be colored, but when oxided and broken down are colorless. This explains the increase in water clarity that people report, but does not mean that the organics are leaveing any faster. I have also seen arguments that the aldehydes and ketones may be easier to skim out of the water column, but I haven't looked into that yet. Most just say "look at my skimmer cup it's filling up faster than ever", but with stuff that is 90-95% water I find the methodology to be a little less than scientific. The only real agument that I have seen about not useing it is that you have no idea what you are oxidizing the larger organic molicules into, that is whether or not they are harmfull (this is mostly due to us not knowing what large organic molicules we are starting with).

In no way am I saying not to use it, I have read many many posts by experienced reef keepers that love useing it and report no harmfull experinces. I think it's a litte like the UV sterilizer debates, just not enough info to say anything for sure.

oh cummon minh... its for when people are over ... and ask what is required to run such a beautiful reef... and u open up the stand...WOW!... LOOK AT ALL THAT EQUIPMENT:eek1:

Wow, combine this with an Aquacontroller JR package (I believe they are still running the $249 special that includes the DC8) and you've got a sweet deal for full aquarium control

what duec22 said....

my reason for wanting ozone is the clarity of the water column.. this would allow for more light to penetrate down; same reason i went with lumenarc's.. and of course, if someone is over they would say something like "..how do you keep your tank so clear??.." :D

the side affects of pulling more skimmate isn't a big point for me b/c i don't run my skimmer wet.. when i empty my collection cup, it's smelly and covered thick on the walls :crazy1:

with anything you add to your tank, there are risks.. you can overdose ozone just like you can OD with kalkwasser, calcium reactor, rowaphos/phosban, RO, etc.

Minh-

I am not advocating for/against using ozone. It came up in another thread and prompted me to look into a group buy. I'm not even sure at this point if I will be purchasing one. What I have learned from the anecdotal evidence out here is that ozone used incorrectly can be dangerous to a tank. But, ozone used correctly can improve the looks of a tank. Depending upon the person/tank it can be a dramatic improvement.

Just as a side note, and by no means read more into this than I intend. I did read an article a while back regarding elegance corals. The author stated that in his experience, he had never witnessed someone keeping an elegance coral long term that wasn'y using ozone to boost their ORP. This was just the authors observation, and was in no way meant to be a scientific declaration.

Do your research, and then you decide if it's right for you.

Based on the link provided by Marc, some of the replies said to do it right we need and OPR monitor/controller unfortunately the JR version don't have the OPR feature.

This group buy does include the Milwaukee ORP controller.

This is a quote from Anthony Calfo;
"Question: Why the debate about ozone use, I mean besides people like me who don't show it enough respect? You have made a strong case for improved skimmer performance, but I have read elsewhere that people claim just the opposite.

Anthony's Answer: misunderstanding/misinformation again. Ozone initially improves protein skimmer performance. But in time, the two together do such a fabulous job at processing organics that you will see a decline in skimmer production. But note: that is a decline in production(!), not "performance." There there is less skimmate produced because there are less organics to skim in a fine tuned (careful nutrient control) system. If/when the organics surge, the skimmer will produce more (performance is not handicapped)."
Anthony's exchange can be found here: URL=http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=619665&highlight=ozone]Link[/URL]

Just a little more fuel on the proverbial fire.

Man...I'm tempted but I soooo want the web browser feature of the AC II with Aquanotes or the ACIII Pro...Arghhh... I just don't know

Can you let us know if this buy will happen for sure or not? I'm not sure if i should send you the paypal payment yet or not..

Hey gang, without looking back through my e-mail and postings, I am fairly sure that we are at 9 units. If Minh comes on board we'll have 10. There are a few people that are on the fence, so at this point I don't see any problems hitting the 10+ unit mark.

Even if we did come 1-2 shy, I could pick them up for resale. My wife flys out Friday afternoon for a year in Kuwait. I'll get everything organized and send out a funds request Saturday or Sunday to the group.
