Group Buy - Ozone Setup

fyi . I've been using mine for a week now and it hovers at 350ish without an air drier and i have a 300 gallon system in a humid basement. I doubt anyone with a tank smaller than this would need an air drier which is fantastic . one less thing to do.

oh and its already almost completely eradicated my cyano problem

same one as you guys got . seems to work well but it does need to be cleaned weekly or every other week as the readings do slowly creap up

I think that's common to ORP probes... Mine is stable for 4 days then on the 5'th day it reads higher; followed by increasingly higher daily readings (without the use of ozone). So I guess I'll have to soak the probe in weak acid twice per week to keep the Ozone/ORP control working properly.

I started running ozone this week; mainly because my green carpet anemone decided to spawn sunday night. I think the ozone helped clean things up; did not do a water change and within 14 hours or so the water had cleared. The tank water is super clear today (like the day after a waterchange) so I think the ozone is having an effect. I'm running it at 40mg/hr continuously (without air-dryer); daily ORP level seems unchanged sofar. Even at this low level you can smell the ozone in the air exiting the skimmer CC.

9/13 UPDATE

I just got off the phone with the vendor in Southern Cal. I did not know, and they did not tell me, that the Air Dryers would be shipping directly from the manufacturer (Red Sea), as are the ORP controllers from Milwaukee. They are both cross country and are shipping ground. So rather than the 2 day UPS ground I had expected from Southern Cal...it's now more like 7-10 days ground. They told me that the controllers are in route, but the air dryers still had not shipped.

Still waiting on the slow boat from China for the generators.

I'll be on vacation Sept 21-Oct 9, and I'm hoping that everything will be in before I leave.

9/16 UPDATE

All of the ORP controllers just arrived. The only thing we are waiting for are the ozone generators.

It amazes me that walmarts can keep stores stocked considering everything comes from China along with the ozone generators. I wonder if it is really systematic inefficiency or some more sinister plot to frustrate american burgeoise consumers.

9/20 UPDATE

9/20 UPDATE

The remaining "extras" should be arriving today (Tuesday). I was able to have the shipper track the ozone generators and they will be delivered on Thursday or Friday. No explanation for the delay.

Problem is I'm headed to Montana early Thursday and won't be back until October 9. My house sitter knows that I have some stuff expected and will check every day. Sorry, but it looks like it won't happen until I get back. Everything else is sitting in my living room.

Probably just get in some fishing. My parents and my brother's family all live in Great Falls. My dad is an avid bow hunter and is going Bison hunting on a huge ranch with a free ranging wild herd about a week after I leave. With the wife gone this year, I probably won't hunt more than an odd pheasant or two.

9/21 UPDATE

THE OZONE GENERATORS ARE IN!!!!!

I'm leaving for Montana on Friday morning before sun-up. I won't have time to get to the Bay Area before I leave. If any of you want to trek my direction tomorrow (Thursday) and pick them up for everybody down there I can make arrangements to be home to accommodate your time frame. Other wise I can bring them down the weekend of October 15-16.

For those of you I have to ship to, I will take your stuff with me and ship from Great Falls. I won't have time to do it before I leave.

fyi mine got my orp up to 370 for like 3 weeks and now just keeps it at about 300-310 . looks like i may have to get an air drier for it. i don't think these are as over powered as advertised.
