I'd like to start a photo journal with my pink birdsnest to see just how well it does in a nutrient rich system.

Birdsnest in my tank are canary coral. As soon as things get out of whack, they are the first to suffer along with generic montipora caps.

I just got one on Thursday. It's my first and I hope I get the results you've gotten! I'm still trying to figure out where I want him to go in the tank though.

Birdsnest are nice starter SPS. The are hardy and grow at a good rate. The down side is they do not encrust so keep that in mind when you select a location.

I havnt seen any encrusting at the base, should I be concerned as I don't want it getting top heavy and breaking at the base?

That is normal. I have had several different birds nest over the years and none of them ever encrusted much. I like to place mine in a location were they will not fall over. The one I have now is kind of tucked into a crack between two rocks and is growing to fill in the space anchoring itself in place.

I'm having a heck of a time getting my one and only BN to color up. Growth and PE is fantastic however :)
I see your keeping your's under MH. Have you ever seen them display proper colors under LED's?

I feed heavily, three times a week I broacast feed with reef roids, coral frenzy, and selcon. I feed the fish daily. As far as level I'm not sure never tested, but I get algae growth on glass daily. B
