Haddoni/Gigantea

What's the easiest way to tell the difference between a haddoni and a gigantea anemone? a local fish store has one that I believe to be a gig. but nobody there seems to know for sure. It's all brown, the sales person said they just come in as carpets and it's been there a couple of weeks, and he will give me 25 percent off. I kind of feel like rescueing the poor thing, My tank has been established for a couple of years, and i have a couple of rbta's that are doing great, what do you guy's think? he will probably just die there.

serious long time reefkeepers are well aware that "rescues" are usually a bad way to go.

Easiest way to tell gigantea from haddoni are the raised verrucae on the underside of the oral disc. JMO but either species (haddoni, gigantea) should be avoided as an impulse or rescue purchase.

You really need to do your homework in advance, and to that end the OP should be commended for researching first.

Rescues Gigantea almost always end in loosing your money. You got to get a healthy Gigantea and put them in optimal situation in order to get one to live. While Haddoni is easier, if you get a sick one it will most likely died on you. Other than BTA, I would not get an anemone that I don't think that is healthy. Bleached is usually OK.
