Hello every one! I hope all of you are doing well.

I have 3 bulbs in mind and wanted to please have your input about it if you have used them or guide me to places/individuals who have first hand experience with them.

Can you please tell me:
How Long This Bulbs Have Lasted You And On What Ballasts You Have Ran Them.

175 watt single ended 10k Hamilton, single ended 14k Hamilton and single ended 20k XM bulbs.

250 watt single ended 10K Hamilton, single ended 14K Hamilton and single ended 20K XM
bulbs.

Just to clarify, I only use single ended bulbs, so this is about single ended bulbs only. In terms of ballasts, I only run electronic ballasts, but I would like to know your experience with the particular bulbs including your ballasts.

Thank you very much in advance for your time and sharing of experience. I wish you very Happy Holidays!

I have seen what these bulbs look like to the eye and what they do to corals, but since I have never owned them from brand new to replacement time, I don't know how long they will last. Help with that please!

What I am trying to find out is how long each of these 3 bulbs will last from the time I buy them brand new to the time I need to replace them. In my case, I plan to run them 6-7 hours per day on electronic ballasts.

Thank you all very much and I am sorry for maybe not wording my question in a more clear way!

Maynor,

The guy I bought my system from ran dual 175 Watt Hamilton Tech 6500k bulbs with an Hamilton Tech electronic ballast for a couple of years. He replaced the bulbs after about 8 months with similar usage because the bulbs color was fading and that was a good balance of cost vs. light. The ballast actually went out after 2.5 years and had to be replaced.

I now upgraded the system since the ballast went out and run the dual 15K 250W on a new HamitonTech ballast (magnetic), and plan to replace them after about 6 months to keep the color spectrum consistent. I am sure I could probably get more life out of them, but I am little paranoid when it comes to preventative maintenance. I know its not exactly what you were looking for but I do hope it helps!

Thanks,

Mike,

It does help and thank you very much for your input. I have been getting PMs from fellow reefers to give me info on this subject and it seams like most people use their bulbs regardless of Kelvin temperature or wattage, for about 7-8 months on the average.

Thank you again and Happy Holidays to you and your family!

ANY ONE ELSE, PLEASE SHARE YOUR EXPERIENCE here or via PM (I will not mention names, so please feel free to say what ever youo want). THANK YOU!
