Hardware & firmware wish list

Interesting thought, but not a flyer im afraid

How exactly do you decide if something is a "Flyer" or not and why are you even responding in this way? No disrespect intended but aren't you just a distributer?

The title of this thread is "Hardware and Firmware wish list." Matthias asked us for our ideas and that's what we're giving. If you continue to shoot down what you don't like, don't think will work or don't understand we'll simply stop posting our ideas.

Deciding whether someone's idea is a "Flyer" or not is something that gets done behind closed doors. Whether someone's idea is technically feasible or financially viable is irrelevant to his thread. No one here expects their ideas to be implemented. It's a 'WISH List".

Try this one on for size, it's how we do it in Canada; "Interesting idea. Thank you!"

Of course, you can carry on the way you are going and continue giving the competition all the info they need to make a better product by telling them all the things the buying public wants that you will not be incorporating into your product.

Incidentally, I have a computer monitor that I can turn sideways and it automatically rotates the screen contents to match.

Not quite sure where your point is here, I am really sorry.

We maybe the distributors but also have a pretty close working relationship with GHL as to what is happening both now and in the future, also working closely with product development on a daily basis

This thread is to give GHL direct feedback as to what people might want for future development, GHL actually take this thread very seriously, they do not see it as a bunch of meaningless wishes. Many of the great posts here have been very well received and actually implemented, so to think this thread is just for wishes that probably will never happen is far from the true outlook it is given.

That being said, if an idea is put forward and it really has no hope of seeing the light of day within the current product range, both GHL and ourselves will let you know that, just the same we will do if the idea has legs. If this thread was just for meaningless wishes, then you are right we would not respond. But as it is taken very seriously we will as much as GHL will, respond acordingly.

But of course as for future products we naturally will not respond, as you quite rightly state we would not want to give competition who watch us daily any thoughts of what maybe down the line.

GHL is an interactive community and all thoughts and ideas are very much listened to, and we continue to welcome your suggestions. This is what makes the profiLux so unique, customer input.

We are also here to give constant and fast support, and both GHL and ourselves would appreciate if anyone does not agree with our or GHL's comments please email us or drop us a pm, we can then address things a lot more effectively, and in doing so keeping the forum a pleasant place for everyone.

You are ALL being listened to that I can assure you!

Best wishes
Michael

Be assured I listen to ANY idea!
Example vertical display: This is interesting, but technically not possible because I can't control any pixel like I want, I can only print characters horizontally. I think Michael knows this because he's got many technical details to be able to give a great technical support and that was the reason for the respond.

A potassium probe would be cool (not sure if that can be done though). Might not be a big seller though but the zeovit guys would love it.

Good idea.

Potassium probes are used in blood work analysis. Basically any substance that can be read in the form of specific ions can be electronically measured, but the issue as with the calcium and nitrate probes is cost.

If the price was brought into the level of what a hobbyist would deem affordable, then this would open up your great idea for sure, but sadly for now we are bound by price of such probes, which can run into $$ thousands, and require replacment.

Great idea, and lets hope oneday soon prices can be brought into the range that makes such ideas viable.

I personally really look forward to oneday seeing nitrate and calcium being made available and in all honesty never given pottasium a thought, and i can see the real benefits for it, lets keep our fingers crossed the manufacturers are reef keepers ;)

One thing that I would like to see the profilux do in the future is dim the display on the main unit. As far as I know it can't right now. Even if you could just have the screen shut off the "wake up" upon touching a button. The only reason I want this is because mine is in my room and can be pretty bright at night.

Yes mine is so bright it takes away from the
enjoyment of watching the tank late at night.

Especially, during the low moonlight portion of the month.

I guess You could always throw a towel over it.

Basically there is a way to lower the screen brightness that does involve throwing a towel over it but i need to check this out full first

what about just shutting it off instead of dimming? Almost like a screen saver that just goes blank, then it could "wake up" when you press a button

The current hardware has not the ability to dim or shut off the background lighting of the display.

The idea "screen saver" would not work. If you just want to see the actual measurement readings you would be forced to push any button before you can see them. Does this make sense?

How about NTP (Network Time protocol) to set the Clock on the Controller for user's that have LAN or WLAN option That live outside of the DCF Range ie 1500km of Frankfurt. or a GPS module that uses the same DCF socket on the Controller
