Has anyone tried any of the new NLS Chloroquine food yet?

Interesting. 1,4-pentanediamine, n4-(7-chloro-4-quinolinyl)-n1, n1-diethyl is similar to CP without the phosphate ion bound to it. Molecular formula is C18H26ClN3 vs C19H24ClN2O3P, so there are some structural differences as well. Not sure how that affects the pharmacological action (if at all).

Good to hear some of the fish find it palatable.

Grok, thank you for posting that.

Deinonych, did you see it has GINGER in it?! I wonder if ginger/cinnamon/nutmeg is how they counteract the bitter taste of chloroquine.

That would be my guess. I can think of no other reason they'd be in there. Given everyone but the Blenny was willing to eat it, it can't be THAT awful. He usually isn't a picky one though.

They also are selling the Ick shield bath solution powder for fish that won't eat the pellets. This should be just CP marketed for the aquarium hobby, finally.

Has Crypto been documented developing resistance to CP? I've always assumed it was a possibility, but I've never seen any direct reports, anecdotal or otherwise.

Some diseases such as Malaria have adapted to be resistant to Chloroquine which creates an underlying fear that this may be possible with ich. That is one of the reasons I would use CP (or copper) for treatment but not prophylaxis.

Consensus is that the CP-laced foods aren't very effective. Best results have been obtained using the Ick-Shield powder in a prolonged (30 day) treatment.

I tried Dr. G's antiparasitic caviar and it didn't work. Most of the fish wouldn't touch it, and it is way too expensive anyway. I lost 6 fish to crypto and now I'm treating the remaining fish with TTM, followed by quarantine for 72 days. IMO, it's snake oil, and it doesn't cure the crypto.
