Have you ever been bitten by a clownfish?

Share your clown horror stories please! I've heard a lot of mixed things about clowns. Some people think they are bloodthirsty maniacs that should come with a warning label and others who think they are docile aquarium staples.

What do YOU think?

Use to happen to me with my old midnight photon pair when they started laying eggs. It did hurt a little but the "surprise" of not seeing or expecting it coming was worse, use to make me jerk my hand and knock stuff over in my tank lol.

Ocellaris and percula are kind of cute in their efforts to defend their territory.
But try that with a fully grown melanopus and it stops being funny - those guys can really bite. If you could keep them together they would scare a piranha out of the water.

Yeah besides the Occys and stuff, the others can be terrifying.

I still have scars from an attack by a Clarkii from over a year ago.

Ughhhh

Ughhhh

Yup, my female Ocellaris is mean. My g/f has named her Cujo (the movie).
She will hang on to my arm like a rag doll while I'm doing maintenance in the tank and will let go only when I pull my arm out and she's a few inches out of the water. No kidding either. It was pretty terrifying the first time as I jerked and almost fell off my stool and got soaked with salt water. Lol

I'm used to it now, Bad thing is I think she think it's funny and does her little victory dance. :(

Sounds freaking terrifying. Do you have a video of the victory dance? It sounds kinda cute.. in an evil way. Does it hurt when she bites?

Clowns are prolly the meanest fish Ive come across and the only ones to draw blood from biting me.

O boy...I'm wondering what I'm getting myself into...I have two ocelleris and in the process of paying off a mated pair of Morse code maroon and lightning maroon clown fish. Strictly PNG.

AHHH. Those teeth on that trigger look sinister. I have a brackish puffer who hasn't bitten me yet. She is very efficient at snail crushing so I don't doubt her ability. When she's done with a snail, tiny sprinkle size chunks of shell get spit out. My breeding ram cichlid mated pair attack me sometimes. And they terrorize innocent cardinal tetras that are minding their own business. I'm guessing clowns are like that?

Kinda offtopic but at Kegogut- what LFS do you recommend in STL for SW?

Personally I usually go to Gateway Aquatics or The Corner Reef since theyre closest to my house ( I live in S. St. Louis) . But out west in St.Charles/St.Peters theres Marine Solutions and Corals and More. I would recommend any of these.

For FW theres only one place that I would recommend and thats Malawi Aquatics in Florissant.

You should check out SLASH forums. We've gotta list of the LFS around here,we also do a frag swap twice a year thats a great place to pick up corals and fish.

No video, maybe someday when g/f is here and I have to do maintenance.

It doesn't hurt me much more like a pinch.
I have pernament nerve damage with atrophy on all my extremities and also have about a 2 second delayed reaction to touch. And can't really feel 100%
Maybe 30%. So it might really hurt someone else. Lol

My large maroon was most aggressive fish towards me I have ever had by far which includes a few triggers along the way. I had to put thick gloves on anytime I put my hand in the tank because he would bite relentlessly.
