Hawkins Echinata polyps visible?

Are the polyps on a Hawkins Echinata large enough to see without magnification? I have had a frag for a few weeks and I can't tell whether it's alive or not because I never see PE. FWIW, it still has the same pale blue coloration it had when I got it.

I have one I've had for months. I've never seen any polyps. They, or at least mine, are very slow growers.

I think its like a turaki I have they are small and almost clear , look at it if you can from below with low lighting

I see the polyps on mine all the time but they come out more at night. It grows fairly fast for me. But yea the polyps are rather small.

Thanks for the pic. That's a beauty.

I hope my frag will eventually color up and start showing some growth. I shined a flashlight at it tonight, but I didn't see any PE. Wondering if it's getting too much light - right now I have it on a frag rack about 8" from a 4x24Wx24" T5HO.

Here is about 14 months growth (acquired from ORA in Apr 09). I also see some small polyp extension at night

I actually get a little PE at all times, but more at night.

But I'm not posting a pic, 'cause my colors aren't great to begin with and my camera makes them look even worse. My Hawkins is basically a pale powder blue with none of that nice green at all. :(

My hawkins only ever shows PE at night, even after a couple years in my tank with no pickers.
