ok i know you anemone experts get asked this so much it bothers you. but i got a green bubble tip anemone 5 days ago and hes been hiding. im pretty sure all of my levels are good. i have a metal halide light with two actinic blue T5's and then 4 blue LEDS. and my flow im pretty sure is good i have two over flow pipes that come out two for each so its four pipes all together (might be a little confusing sounding). and one power head in between the two overflows. i have a toadstool, green star polyps, mushrooms, and richodario or something like that mushrooms, and they seem to be pretty good. i know takes a week or so for them to come out of hiding. i tried feeding him scallops but its hard to reach him so i place them on the sand a couple inches away from him. he doesnt get enough light and he gets no flow, and i hear these two things are what anemones need to survive. so, with this, will he come out of hiding?:hmm2:, i also have two clownfish (black and white ocellaris) but idk if they noticed him.

Sometimes anemones will hide because the lights are too bright. If that's the case it'll come out more as it gets used to the lighting.

ok thanks, glad to know an option could be the lighting, thank so much i was getting worried because its really nice looking and its big and most important i spent a crap load on it.lol

yeah it prolly is the halides,,also mine doesnt like alot of flow so something else to keep in mind..you dont want a powerhead pointing at it or anything like that.

ok, ya the power head is just like in the middle its just to push the flow back out towards itself i kind of planned it to like reverse each other its kind of hard to explain tho. thanks

Sometimes its just that the anemone has a different view of the tank. If he is on a rock, rotate tge rock 180 degrees, and when he starts to move, his root will be loose, and you can easily (and gently) pull him off and move him.

Are you acclimating it to your lights?

I would use layers of window screening (( supported by egg crate )), start off with 3 layers, and remove a layer every 5-7 days.

If you look at the top right of this picture you can see what I am talking about.

no i am not i kind of did like an hour of acclimating in the bag and put some of my water into the bag. but now he is drooping over, not sure why does anybody know? also he like turns around alot in the little cave hes in i looked in there at night and he was like turned around so u couldnt see his tenticles anybody know what thats about to just want to make sure, i know this sounds dumb to but my tank when i put him in was only 1 an half months old, but the guy who setup my tank which by the way he did a good job, said i could get one so i believed him especially since he has like 7 saltwater tanks of his own and they are all really nice. so im just wondering about the droopiness and the turning around? what is all that about?

I'd take it back. The tank is too new and the lights are awful bright, just for starters. Sounds like he's not gonna make it if you don't move him out of there.

just wondering, the guy that has the 7 tanks gave me 50 lbs of live rock and i got the rest from lfs. but since i got half the rock from his tank would this change the stability? also the anemone still has color after a week of having him and has come off the rock he is on and almost looks like he is moving. his tentacles are small, hes like half upside down but still sticking to the rock.

Please test your water and post up your parameters. Salinity, pH, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, calcium and alkalinity. Your tank is too new to properly house the anemone.

anemone is looking alot better now, i think he was either deflating and inflating or digesting cause he looks good now, and i think he was moving too from out of the rocks because i can see him easier now.
