HELP ASAP.....dHK overdose

I have a 65 gal tank dominated with SPS. I accidentally left my doser on for 5 hours and half of my sodium bicarbonate reservoir dosed in my tank. Salifert test is off the scale +16, so I don't really know how much is in the there. All I know is that the entire tank is cloudy white.

Any suggestions anyone? Can I neutralize with vinegar or do I have to move everything out. Or is the tank crashed.

SOME HELP PLS.....ASAP

Please, do not put vinegar in your tank, that would be a another mistake imo. Since the Alk is already high and everything is stressed I would do 4 small 10gallon water changes every hour for four hours. Re-test between each water change and then decide what to do from there, however you remedy the situation, do it slow.

IMO, I would suggest small waterchanges too unless youre corals are RTNing. If they are RTNing then Id to a BIG water change if not then the corals adjusted to the slow alk raise and should be reduced slowly.

Make up like 30 - 40 gallons and take the day off. make sure you check what youre new waters' alk/calc is too. not sure what salt you use but may need to supplement calc/mag to make sure you dont cause more problems with low readings on those levels. Also check your tanks levels over the course of the waterchanges to see how youre tracking.

How do things look?
You are probably very busy doing water changes and can't post, but keep us up-to-date on how thing are going.. good luck

does your tank look like the picture below. If I was just in the same boat as you are a couple of weeks ago. as per all the post above water change helps, test ALK & CAL your system before and after you complete the water change. When I OD the system the other thing that I've noticed was my CAL is super low, So I've also slowly increase this. Just remember HI ALK = LOW CAL and vice-versa.

The ALK level in my system did when back to normal (between 7.5 to 8) after a day with the steps that i've mentioned.

One other thing when your parameters and corals are somewhat back to normal don't forget to maintain your equipment as they will have significant buildup and will not be working 100%

Good luck.

Well, that was probably the most stressful thing that I've gone through since being in this hobby.....after about 3 hours everything cleared up. DHK tested at 24...whoa.....to my surprise all the polyps looked ok and open. However I notice that all of my LPS are a little shrunk and shriveled. I did at 10 gallon water change and I'll do another on tonight since everything looks fine....thanks a lot for the advice guys.
