help !! - c-balance bottle dilution instruction

Hi all,

I had brought a second hand aquarium that came with C-Balance A & B from Two Little Fishies in two 1-gallon containers. Apparently the previous owner had used some of it, since the bottles are not full.

The instruction on how to dilute states:
"... To dilute to full strength, simply add purified water to each bottle to a level one inch below the cap. Cap tightly and mix the bottles by tipping or rotating end over end. ...."
(see image http://picasaweb.google.com/derek.liang.ca/Aquarium#5360422426201984178)

Is dilution necessary? If yes, at what ratio? (The instruction does not say anything about it)

Thanks in advance!

I guess the real question is whether the person you bought it from has already diluted it. I use C-Balance and buy the gallon containers, probably the best way of telling if they have already been mixed is to look at the alk additive, if it has not been mixed, there will be solids in the bottle. If you don't see any solids, my guess is it has already been mixed and partially used.

The dilution is as simple as it sounds, just fill the bottles with RO/DI water to within 1 inch of the top and your ready to go. I have found that C-Balance is good for maintaining your cal and alk but if you need to raise them I suggest using something different to raise the numbers and the C-Balance to maintain them.

When new it's less than 1/4 full. You add water the water.

If you got it used, pretty safe to assume that it's already been done.

Im also confused.

I have two large 1g (approx) containers of the stuff. Says "concentrate".

Then I have two smaller bottles. Again - I inherited this from the person before me.

It is being used at the salon (who's aquarium I maintain now) and so I need to figure out how to mix this stuff.

The way I read it made it seem that you take the little bottle, fill it 1" from the top, and then top it off with the "concentrate".

This must be wrong.

The large "A" and "B" bottles are full, but there is still a small amount of solid at the bottom of the "B" bottle.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
